Question about HP Compaq Presario v3000z Notebook

Several letters on a keyboard have stopped working

Hello, several of the letters on a keyboard in our office just stopped working. This problem seems to be isolated to the bottom, right row - the b, n, m, , . /. Is it possible that some kind of a lock was set on these keys? This is a new keyboard (just a week old) and was working fine until last night. Other letters and keyboard keys seem to work fine. In order to log in to the server on this computer we need the "b". Any ideas?

Please can you go to control panel and click on the Regional and Language option and check witch language is display?

Then click the second Tab "Languages" and check if is the same language settings.

Then in Control Panel check the "Keyboard" to check if it's setup as "Standard 101/102 Keys or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard" and report back with the results, Thank you

Bring it back to the repair shop. They should replace the keyboard.

Touch Freeze, a free utility program may help fix that problem. I assume this just started to happen, correct?
If that fails, try another keyboard, preferably a USB Wireless Mouse/Keyboard.

Several letters do not type

More than likely it's due to a hardware failure. You'll have to swap the keyboard out with a working one. Ebay is the cheapest place to get one. In the meantime a usb keyboard will work ;)

Hard to type. Does not type all of the letters.

Please make sure that the wireless sensor is working properly, and there shud not be any kind of disruption in the signals between laptop and keyboard.

HP Pavilion zv6000 Notebook PC keyboard replaced

Probably the keyboard you got is defective. I have seen buttons working in very bad conditions. When a key doesnt work or several is bad news.

Try to get a replacement. Since you have already reseated this simply check if the flex cable is properly locked, (ear plugs or similar) and not moving.
