I am trying to get an external monitor working on my acer extensa 5220 - it comes on while booting then reverts back to laptop any ideas please

need to reinstall graphics from wed site support/acer

you can bye pass the bios password by removing the hdd. then use an external hdd connector to connect it to another computer. then use partion magic or easus partition manager to delete the partion in the hdd.(leave it uncreated and unformarted).then put it back to your laptop and format it without selecting the boot order. for more mail to [email protected]

re seat the memory cards, clean them if necessary with pencil eraser (the metal connector on mem card), if it won't work, you might need to replace them with the new ones

To restore your laptop you need the restore cd/dvd that came with your laptop when you bought it.
Please be adviced that restoring your laptop will cause you to lose all your data. Backup any data you would like to keep, to an externad drive or usb.

To restore your laptop do the following:
Insert the restore cd in your cd/dvd drive and restart your computer.
When you see the message "Press any key to boot from cd" press enter.
Then follow the on screen instructions to restore your laptop.

To boot from CD, simply start your laptop and then press F12 immediately, and you will be given boot device options, with out having to get into your BIOS setup.

Try connecting to an external monitor. If it displays on the external monitor then the LCD is probably dead. If it doesn't display on the external monitor, its a problem with the video card.

You should download a wifi card driver and install it from this location:

press and hold the Fn key then press one of the function button (F1 - F12) locate the one that has a monitor icon on it

On acer laptop you have already speakers. but you want to connect external speakers then please find
that three conector in your laptop and connect you external speakers on one of them. please try each connector and you are able to connect external speaker.
