A htc g1 login problem

I read your text about unlocking the htc g1... and i did it, but i have another problem now... when i had to mater reset it g1 asked me to insert a gmail account. So far it's easy, but the problem is that when i inserted my username and pass it notified me that ther's a problem with connection... well sure there's one, since i'm unable to set up my phone first so i could even think to connect to internet! Is there any way you can think of to help me since i don't know what to do anymore... i'm even considering flashing it!
hope you know something about starting OS bypassing the login step

    I upgraded to a G1; 55 hours ago

I still can't get into the network. I haven't even been able to get past the log-on screens. I've been back to the store twice, spoken with level 2 and 3 tech support (twice), and even gone into tech-chat at the store. I was told it could take up to 48 hrs to provision into the network. We've done hard boots, cold boots, reboots in safe mode. We've checked the SIM card, IMEI #, you name it. We've checked everything except its damn prostate.

This is getting a little ridiculous. I understand that it's new technology, but can't this **** get worked out before they launch the product? It's not like it's a Microsoft product, everybody's used to their s**t not working right for about a year after launch.

But seriously, I'm being told now that it could take another 24 to 48 hrs to get it on-line. That's a total of 96hrs for those of you that are keeping score.

I've been assured that the problem is not with the phone, that it's a network problem. Well that's not giving me the warm and fuzzies either. If T-mobile's network can't reliably support the phone, what's the point? All the technology in the world is useless if it doesn't work when you need it.

Are my expectations out of line here? I upgraded because the first phone I bought (a Samsung Gravity) wasn't performing right. So I upgraded to the best piece of equipment they had. Now I've spent 3 days without a cell phone, that I'm paying for, with no resolution in sight.

I swear this phone is going to tear the A** right out of me.

Before you do the resseting of your phone you shoul;d make sure that you are connected to gprs.
once when you do this you can insert the gmail if you have or open if you dont have.
if you have a problem like i have in Dubai that when i put the apn address it tells me that i do not have enough credit you simply delete the address and that is it.

The G1 uses your SIM information to connect to GPRS/Edge to register the gmail information. It sounds like you don't have a G1 data plan on your account. The G1 data plans are 24.99 for unlimited data and 400 texts, or 34.99 for unlimited data and texts. I made the mistake of thinking that my regular 19.99 data plan would work, but it would not.

If you have TMO web-billing you can add the feature on by logging into the website and clicking "My Account > Change/Add services" or if you don't have web billing, you can do it over the phone with a billing rep.

It can take up to 24 hours to activate, but it only took me 10 mins.

Also, make sure you are using the correct SIM. I know a lot of people got these phones for xmas and they came with another SIM pre-inserted.

After reset , cannot login to gmail

I guess you have factory reset the phone and it swap out everything.

The G1's much-vaunted first step during the setup is to enter your Google login username and password. Once that happens, the G1 attempts to connect to Google's servers to get your email, contacts, and calendar set up.
Here's the thing, though, if (or when) the G1 cannot connect to the servers, you're done. There is no way to exit out of the Google setup screen, no clear way to reset the phone to bypass it (even in "safe mode"), no way to turn on WiFi.

Help me unlock my g1

The best solution is to call your carrier and ask for your unlock code "WHICH IS FREE" if you are more then 90 days with them, they usually give you the codewith in 5 - 10 business days.
Or you can order one online and get it within 5 - 10 minutes and key inthe code, it takes less then 30 seconds to unlock it yourself.
You can get one for $18 from here

Try downloading Txtract from the G1 Market. It's listed under "tools". Use this application to save the text messages you've been hoarding to your SD card, then delete the text messages from your phone. Your G1 will work like new again!
