Question about ASUS CROSSHAIR Motherboard

1 Answer

Computer won't turn on.

I switched to Asus Crosshair Mobo. Put in athlon 6400+ x2 processor. Connected everything right. when i power it on, it only stays on for like 7 seconds or so, then turn off. Tried turning it on without the CPU, it works fine. Tried my CPU on other mobo, it works fine too. help please.

This sounds like an overheat problem, is your cooling fan working properly, also the processor you are using is a powerful one, so needs a cooling fan much more powerful than the lesser powered athlon 64 processors.

    In that case it is a faulty motherboard, beneath the processor socket are a series of small temperature sensors which sometimes malfuncfunction. Suggest that if the board is new, you should return it under a "Faulty under warranty " return basis.

    One other option to confirm the problem will be to fit a lower spec' cpu if you have one knocking around to test it under that platform.

M2NPV-VM - Fastest Processor?

If ASUS says that is the fastest that will work on the board, then they should know. Incidentally processors don't run at 95 volts although some run at a power consumption of 95 watts. Besides there is not a faster AM2 CPU than the one you mention.

Hi, Just got asus crosshair, blue led lights on the board are on but the power button on the board does nothing?

Make sure that the switch to turn on mb LED is off and if want to turn it on go into bios and set it. If it is active thru switch and not thru MB it will not allow you to turn on PC cause it is in maintenance mode.

Procesor speed

Well, I would start by going to the ASUS web page and look up your specific motherboard. Here is the link right to the board---

http://usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=117&l3=0&l4=0&model=1283&modelmenu=2

the specs listed at ASUS's site don't say specifically"how many Gz processor can my mothereboard suport" although they will point you in the right direction. Open up the site on a seperate internet page if you haven't already and look at if for me. Do you notice where it mentions the Socket types that it supports in the CPU section?? Basically the page is telling you what type of processors it will run. I believe the Athlon 64 x2 is the fastest out of what they have listed, although i did not look up the specs. You should be safe buying any speed Athlon 64 x2, Athlon 64 FX, Athlon 64 or Sempron processor. Hope that this was helpful, if it was could you please give me a good review? Thanks.

Asus crosshair II forumla motherboard not powering up

Hi, To troubleshoot a grounding problem like this remove the entire motherboard (keeping all the necessary connections) and lay it on a wood cutting board ( wood is a bad conductor of electricity) and try to boot up and watch it. Make sure its fairly secure so it doesnt get knocked aside, and be especially gentle and touch the board only on the edges.
This will eliminate whether it is a shorting problem.

Present the result to the MOBO support and they will probably replace the board.

I hope this helps, good luck. *s*

Computer won't boot up

Make sure that your power switch is connected to the correct pins on the motherboard. The LED you see lit may be the stand-by power indicator saying it has power and is waiting for the signal from the power switch.

Motherboard Issue

Hi Tomokato,
This maybe nothing but the first thing I checked is the CPU.
Supported CPU list through Asus web site for M2N-SLI
(Click on this link). http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=M2N-SLI
The first supported 64 X2 is;
Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (CU),512K,65W,rev.F2,SocketAM2
Second CPU supported;
Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (DD),1MB,65W,rev.G,SocketAM2

The CPU that you are using is not supported.
Since this is a new CPU, you might be able to exchange it for the Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (CU),512K,65W,rev.F2,SocketAM2.
Link to Asus main web site for M2N-SLI.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=M2N-SLI&SLanguage=en-us
Suggest you add the above link to you're favorites.

Even you're memory is not supported. As seen in user manual page. 2-13.

Have more questions, feel free to ask.
