Vertical white lines appear on the screen. Samsung provides the following information but doesn't say what circuitry they are referring to. Samsung says: DLP TV: I Have Vertical White Lines...

That answer I agree makes no sense.

Most of these sets have NO vertical hold and if did it will not cause the lines.

A brief educated guess:

Set has a main board that communicates and controls the screen--tests for that are not simple (checking waveforms with a scope and signal generator).

The model indicated here is a DLP that uses a lamp (let me know if model listed is not the one you have).

In DLP sets aside from main/digital board you also have a optical light engine---it processes all signal in and out to the screen.

Optical engines do fail and cause some simple and some complicated picture issues.

Some will even cause the set to "lock up" with a picture or strange looking screen---clue to this is you have to shut the set off by pulling the power cord.

The set may be old enough they do not really want to help you or even talk about it.

How to Troubleshoot Vertical Lines on an LCD TV Screen

<p>There are two prevalent formats for video programming: full screen and wide screen. LCD TVs are designed to show a wide screen picture to go with high-definition (HD) programming. When standard-definition (SD) programming is watched on an LCD HDTV in its default settings mode, there will be two vertical lines on the right and left sides of the picture. You need to go into your TV settings menu to troubleshoot this issue.<br /> jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); <span><br /></span> <span>Instructions</span> <ol> <li> 1 Press the "Menu" button on your remote control and open the "Picture Settings" sub-menu.<br /> </li> <li> 2 Select "View" from the list of options.<br /> </li> <li> 3 Choose a viewing mode that will eliminate the vertical lines. Select "Zoom" to crop the on-screen image to fit the screen. Select "Wide/Widescreen" to stretch the on-screen image to fit the screen, or select "Panoramic/Panorama" to stretch the sides of the onscreen image to fit the screen (recommended).<br /> </li></ol>

Steady vertical lines in picture Sanyo viZon DP26647 LCD HDTV

I have a Sanyo DP42746 model, 42". From my research I believe the lines in the picture are letting you know your Buffer Board is about to go out. Mine recently cut out, and it caused horizontal lines to appear. Hope this helps : /

Lines with occassional picture

This is a problem with the main board. This board does the signal processing and sound audio processing. The problem may just be some over expanded solder connections that have lost the ability to stay in contact with the board. It could also be a problem with some component failure.
