Question about Archos Gmini 220 MP3 Player
I have a sigmatel mscn audio player (mp 480) .it was perfectly fine ..i plug in the usb cable to the port..switch on the mp3 player....and i dont see the "removable drive H" where my songs in the player are stored. and now i see a yellow exclamatory mark next to "

hi what probebly had happend is that you earased your system files along with all other (stupid manufacturer) you need to install your firmware again: http://www.archos.com/support/download/firmware.html?country=global&lang=en next thing to do is dowloding and insalling all links from this page: http://www.archos.com/support/download/index.html?country=global&lang=en good luck

Hi - I have the same problem. The tech support folks at Exmprex say you need to reset the firmware with a utility called fwisp.exe - which is on the CD that came with the player - except there was no CD. I've asked them if they can provide a downloadable version. Email email@example.com with your device details and see what you get.

I managed to overcome the problem by doing a factory reset. Unfortunately doing this initially created more problems in that on reboot the main screen appearance looked as it should but was almost inoperable. When the usb cable was connected to my pc the disc did appear on My Computer . The system folder was only 1MB. By good fortune I had copied and saved my Archos files before I carried out the factory reset. Copying the original system files ( about 20MB) back to my Archos returned normal behaviour. Further, two additional buttons appeared. One was a manual arclibrary update button and the other a USB setup button . I cannot get file transfer to operate under windows media player mode and Windows media player 11. No problem though. I use PC hard drive mode and carry out a manual arclibrary update. None of this was possible prior to the factory reset. I believe I would still be having serious problems had I not saved and restored my system files

Make sure when you format archos its in file system fat32. I can only assume you need check folder permissions, which is why you cannot write to drive.

I had the same problem with my Archos 605 and here's how I fixed it....
Right click on My Computer, then click on Properties. Under the Hardware tab click on Device Manager. My Archos was shown under Portable Devices but with an exclamation point next to it. I right clicked on Archos 605 wifi and then clicked on Update Driver. This updated the MTP driver and now everything is working fine.
