Can't pair bluetooth headphones with Insignia Pilot MP3 player

I bought a pair of bluetooth headphones for my Insignia Pilot. They are Samsung SBH500. I enabled bluetooth on the MP3 player and hit search. It says No Device and then says searching, but nothing happens. It shuts down the screen and goes to the music player mode. What am I doing wrong?

I know the pin. It won't even find the headphones when I search. What is this "discoverable mode" There is no such thing on either device.

The directions from Samsung to pair the headset was way off. You need to hold down the main button then turn on the headset. Only then will the headset go into pairing mode by maintaining a solid blue light. It took me a couple of days of troubleshooting and experimenting to realize this pairing method. I just hope that this problem is only due to my headset because I assume a lot of people who buy this headset and try out Samsung's directions will become very frustrated. I almost returned the product and I am sure many others would too.

I have Kyocera headphones and could not get it to connect to my Insignia Pilot NS-4V24. In fact, the Insignia wouldn't detect my phone, computer, or headphones. I finally called Insignia, got a person on the line pretty quickly, and he told me with a straight face that the INSIGNIA ONLY CONNECTS VIA BLUETOOTH TO INSIGNIA HEADPHONES OR ONE MODEL OF MOTOROLA HEADPHONES. Can you believe that?!?! I'd never heard of such a piece of **** that it's actually DESIGNED that way. So now I am trying to return the Insignia. Buyer beware.

Did you try your sbh500 with your computer?
If you can pair it with computer, sure you can pair it with NS-4V24.

I got SBH500 paired with my insignia NS-4V24, works perfect.
(however, I got a Samsung WEP500 and tried to NS4V24, not work.

Pairing probs with insignia bluetooth wireless headphns to iphone, device is showing up on iphone, but no sound

have your put a new battery in your headphones.
they show 10 hours of continuous play so the battery may be charged enough to pair but not to power the headphones.
Change the batteries and try it.

Bluetooth compatibility with hearing aids

It appears that the Pilot is incompatable with Phonak so there is no fix. It would be a waste of money to subscribe to a trouble line, and it is insulting to be asked. We have already wasted money on the MP3 player. I am sorry the store clerk was not knowledgeable enough to tell us this before we bought the unit. It still works with our stereo, but does not fill the intended purpose.

Passkey prob

Here's the news...you can't.

The Insignia players are "Master" units and not "Slave" units. Your phone is another master unit and will not talk with the Insignia player since the Insignia player doesn't have a "slave" mode.

If there was a passkey on the Insignia player, it would be 0000 or 1234...with is pretty standard for most BT slave devices like headphones and speakers.

the bluetooth for the phone and the MP3 player is not for wireless transfer of data, but for accessories like headphones or maybe speaker ETC.
For transfers use the USB cable or memory card

Bluetooth/ Insignia mp3

Hi MzM1990,

You can find lots of useful product information about your Insignia MP3 player on the manufacturer's website located at: http://www.insignia-products.com.

(The actual product page for your MP3 player is located at http://www.insignia-products.com/pc-289-22-insignia-pilot-8gb-video-mp3-player-with-bluetooth-technology.aspx)

I'd recommend downloading the User's Manual. The instructions on how to connect the MP3 player to Bluetooth compatible headphones are located on pages 27-29 of the manual.

NOTE that the wireless headphones MUST be A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) compatible to use this feature. If your headphones are also AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile) compatible then you will also be able to adjust some settings of the MP3 player (such as play/pause, skip forward/backward and control the volume) wirelessly. Check the documentation on your headphones to ensure compatability.

Best regards.
Ken
