Dirty video head! Playback newly opened blank tape for five minutes, after that eject, reinsert, playback then eject again five times, these will serve as your video head cleaner, never use "video head cleaning cassette tape" for it will only damage your camera. Most camera has built in video head cleaner installed inside and activates only when you insert, initial play/rec, and ejects a tape. If the problem is still there you need pro fix then.[:0)

SOURCE: JVC GY-HD 110

I have had a problem with this. The first time I was setting up the camera I too couldn't get the computer to detect the camera. The computer will detect it before any program can begin to use it. I was using the pinnacle moviebox. I find that I have to use the cord only one way out of the camera and use the same end connected to the camera everytime and the other end into the moviebox or hardline into your computer. Believe it or not, i have to press the end into the moviebox good and snug otherwise it will not detect it. I also use a filter on the cable to stop any potential interference and a good indicator next time which end belongs in the camera and which one back in the computer. Since I have done this, I haven't had any trouble.
I connect the camera via IEEE 1394 with a cable with gold connections (10 bucks at target), into the pinnacle moviebox and then backout to the computer with USB into USB 2.0 port on my pc. My PC is running XP Media Center.

SOURCE: JVC GY-HD110U won't turn on with battery power only AC power.

There is an issue with the a small yellow part of the AC plug breaking off in the camera. The camera thinks it's still plugged in, so it won't run on the battery. If you can get a small tool to fit into the inlet you can break the piece up and pull the parts out. I haven't had any luck with it, but read others doing it.

I have a JVC Digital video camera model GR-DV500U I'm trying to connect to my computer with a dv cable. my computer handles the 6 pin but the 4 pin for the camcorder is to large for the connection. Can't...

I presume that you are using desk top computer, thus it has bigger connector. Solution, have find this connector so that one end fit to your cam and the other end fits to your PC. This connector have the same format(protocol) and easy to find in computer store. USB streaming is ok for this model for earlier windows OS, haven't try with windows 7 yet. hope it helps

Will not eject tape

If your camcorder is JVC GY-DV550 and having a tape jam problem, It could be mechanical problem such as pinch roller or tape may be loose inside. I will try this just in case of loose tape. At VCR mode, press FF serveral times then REW same. Now try eject. If that did not work, you should take it to professional service facility near you for further diagnostic. Good luck, -james
