Hi, sorry I wasn't very clear, the flashes (2) come from the power light, which indicate an error code and two mean something to do with the motor but as the brushes are still ok and it only fails when it tries to turn the drum I was thinking it may be a dead motor, the machine is at least 10 yrs old and gets used slot ( family of 5), thanks

If I put it on a normal cycle, it fills and then as tries to start turning, starts clicking round and drains. If I try to spin it just does a drain and then starts clicking round. I've taken the top off and nothing seems burnt in the electronics r detached, there's no smell form the motor and the drum spind freely if I rotate it myself

If your seeing flashes from behind the dial I'm thinking that the timer needs to be changed. Even with the motor shorted out, it still wouldn't cause that effect to happen.

I see, but I still have to vear away from the motor. usually, not always but 99% of the time when a motor goes bad, as soon as you push the start button, the machine will either hum and not turn or make a loud buzzing sound which stops when the button is release.

SOURCE: Indesit W123 s UK water overflows from the detergent draw

My machine clicked round, although I did not have the water overflow. I managed to unlock the pump filter, on the front of the machine under the lower panel. This was fiddly. I removed a coin. The machine worked again, but two cycles later starting clicking round the timer. I called an engineer - it worked when he was here, he checked the element and pump and said it was OK. When he had gone, it clicked round the timer again! He came again, and once again it worked perfectly when he was here. Eventually I checked the pump filter again, and removed another two coins. At the moment - it is working!

thats a problem with your heater, or the heater relay on the main pcb. best off replacing heater first as its the cheapest option.
hope this helps

try and clear prog memory .what to do is set prog knob to an off position where the black spot is then switch on machine the red light will flash quickly then slow down. when it does switch machine off then select program and switch on and it should be ok.if not it could well be a main fault on pcb .indesit boards are not very good .hope this helps.

W123 holding some water and dial keeps spinning around checked the filter all clear

may be a blockage in the sump hose or pump feed hose or the pump itself may be faulty. the dial will click round to tell you there is a fault. to reset turn the dial onto every DOT and turn on for 10 secs then off and onto the next dot it will flash for a couple of seconds to confirm.

Dial keeps rotating

This a common problem with Indesit washers..
It is not a timer but a programme selector switch.
What you need to do is the following.
Switch the m/c on, let the drain pump empty the water, then switch the m/c off.
set the selector switch to one of the black dots on the dial, which is stop/reset.
Then switch washer back on, if the dial still keeps going round and round, then you are going to have to call an engineer, as you have what is called an Anomaly (fault).
Plz leave feedback for this solution.
Thanks

Indesit W123 5 flashes error!!

The F05 fault means the pump is blocked, check the filter at the front bottom right of the machine behind the plinth and if its connected under a sink check the hose & connection

Indesit w123 prog dial goes round but does not do anything else?

It's the motor brushes that are worn and taking down the neutral side of the circuit hence nothing else works !

these machines are a problem! the dial clicking round can be a component fault - ie pump etc - or a module fault. from what you describe, fault could be with the pump. an easy way to check is to power the pump up independently and see if drain works ok. (i assume you have checked the filter) after that, check continuity in the heater as well. if both of these are ok, you are faced with a module fault

Suggestion: The pipe behind your machine has to have a certain height (the machine drain pipe); it does not go directly into the drain at floor level. Check this out.
