Have you reset the ink cartrige?  Have you unplugged it and replugged it? Are there any flashing lights on the printer? Did you recently add software or had a windows update? Unistall and reinstall the driver.

I had the same problem too. Brand new unit and 5100 error comes on after power up. There is nothing jaming the ink cartiage, and it only moves a little bit to the left then jams back to the right. I can't even load in new ink cartiages. It's going back to the shop today.

SOURCE: Printer wont print and comes up with service error

Error 5100 is Carriage error.Possible problems in:
- Carriage unit
- Timing **** strip film
- Logic board assembly
- Carriage motor

First, make sure there is no paper jam anywhere in the machine.. look inside, rear, where the paper tray (output) is, etc to see if you find any shreds or torn paper that may have gotten stuck and you didn't see.Look carefully in the zone of Purge unit, using flashlight in the right side on printer. If this not help your printer need service.

SOURCE: I get an error code 5100. Printe does not start to

Hello Gurmi,
It may be that you need to clean your timing strip. (Download the manual from the usa canon website to learn more about the timing strip.)

Also, if cleaning the timing strip does not help, you may need to lubricate your purge cap. The purge cap is the white sliding mechanism that the printhead parks against when not in use.
1. Get yourself some white grease.
2. Remove the right printer panel to gain access to the purge mechanism.
3. Do not get any grease on the wipers or the black caps!
4. Moisten JUST the purge cap with the white grease.

Let me know if this solves the problem! Thanks - ambssdor

Rollers won't pick up photo paper.

Hi I would suggest you to try once again by putting the shiny side up and print it again, some time even if the pages get stick with each other than also the printer wont take paper in. so try one more time and do reply if you still have the same problem or nay other.

Naiven.

I have a Kodak 5100 all in one printer, I just replaced the black ink cartridge and now it won't print anything but come black lines. How can I fix this?

hi there,

you have to check some of the possible cause why the print won't print:
  • make sure that the ink was properly seated on the carriage.
  • do a printer head cleaning. do deep printer head cleaning using the printer utilities installed on your PC.
just let me know for further clarification, k.

I have got error code 5100

5100 error code means there is somekind of obstruction inside the printer thats interfering with the printing process. You have to check the inside the printer especially near the gears and under the rollers. The obstruction can be anything like a small piece of paper, a paper clip, ball pin etc., check thoroughly and you will find it. Post back if you need more help.
