New LG monitor W2241T, connected to my lap top. When I turn on the monitor it says power saver mode and swtiches to amber. I try F10 and nothing the monitor stays blank.

You can open the VGA cable and connect it again, sometimes there are two or three vga ports behind your cpu, connect the right one. Try it, if not success, change the cable.

Your monitor enter to power saving mode to prevent further damaged. It's seems you got a busted backlight inverter... Need to replaced a new one or repaired it...
Try wiggling the Cord on the backside of the monitor.. Not the Power Plug Cord, The Other Cord that attaches to the PC. Do this once the monitor turns off , grab ahold of the cord about 2 inches from the back of the monitor, then bend the cord to the right, keep bending from the right to the left a couple times to see if your screen comes back, if it does, than you have a Loose connection and this sometimes causes the Symptoms you are receiving.. Hope it helps.
before anything else... just try to check or diagnose if your video card is not defective..and you try also to use another computer to connect to identify the problem...
Try the unlock procedure:
With the monitor on press and hold the "MENU button for abot five seconds and see if it resets.
If that doesn't work tell me a bit more about the screen - is there any OSD (on screen display) or error messages?
Is the power indicator light on?
If so, what color is it?
Blue indicates that that you may need to turn the brightness and contrast up...\
If it is actually in power save the indicator light will be amber. What color is it?
If the light is amber and all the connections to the computer are correct and it still won't come-up then it's an internal problem and the protect circuit may be keeping the screen from lighting.
