Question about Mitsubishi WD-62725 62" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Dark picture I have been having a problem with a dark picture from the first day that I bought this tv. I called for service right away and a service tech came out. All they did was adjust the color controls/contrast levels. I could have done that! They said that there is nothing wrong with the tv and that it is as light as they can get it. I am very unhappy with how dark the picture is! Please help!

Re: dark picture

Depending on where you got the TV, a reputable store would offer to exchange or replace it if they couldn't get it fixed to your satisfaction. Otherwise, check with your attorney general for the lemon laws in your state. If you get a choice of a replacement, check out the Toshiba 62HM196 in Decembers issue of Consumer Reports.

Replaced lamp and picture is very dark

My 2006 model had a problem right after I bought it, it started getting colored splotches all over, so I called panasonic and they said it could not be fixed....since I bought the insurance they sent me my money back for the tv. About 2 weeks later I got a call saying the panasonic company had sent in a repair ticket and made an appointment to come fix my turned out to be an eeprom reprogramming problem. They fixed it and panasonic paid for it. :-) The tv had a beautiful picture after that up until about October 2013. When you replace the lamp, it's important to clean out the area the lamp goes into. I wipe everything in there with a soft cloth and I also use the crevice tool on the vacuum to vacumm it out really well. Seemed to make a difference to me. But depending on the age of your tv, it could judt be a sign that something is going wrong in the light engine. My tv got darker (I just went in and lightened it in the settings) and after awhile I had to replace the lamp more often and then it started getting tiny blue spots around the perimeter of the screen. The grandkids called it the milky way. It eventually got red vertical lines and they would go away if we turned it off for a few minutes, but after awhile they were here to stay....the light engine was definitely going out. So, now we have a new 65" tv.

I own a pioneer projection monitor model SD-532HD5. It has been flickering on and off where it goes from its crisp color to a hazy type picture. Yesterday, it flickered and the picture went away...

This TV is known for bad solder joints on the Power board. Call a good TV Tech and have him resolder the Power board. It is on the right hand side of the TV looking from the back.

Picture is wavy, dark and displays only black, blue and red.

Yes, send to repair, the problem you are showing is not a big problem for any regular workshop. The tv needs now a regular "maintenance" some parts are old or some solder joints are old, in any sense a "good day of service" working this tv in the bench is not really expensive.

Help :) My PANHDTV-53WX42F color went dark and I can not seem to get it lighter by using the menu options, also tried the convergence adjustments,, should I call a service tech or buy a new tv ??? Thanks !

I have determined that it is my green bulb that is bad, because it also controls a lot of the black/white picures, thus that I believe it is out this is causing the darkness. I went through all of the convergences through set up and altered/adjusted all the options in picture, not much changed other than the brightness of the pictures which at least makes it somewhat watchable. Have called a tech to replace bulb. Will let you know if it is anything else, but I must say for a "girl" I am getting very good at assessing a lot of mechanical issues :)

I removed the back from the tv and cleaned the lamps, mirror and inside of the screen with window cleaner. The image is now clear as the day I bought the tv.

Yes there is, you can very carefully take off the back of front speaker grill and the wood cover behind this. There you will see several controls I think six total, three on the top and three right below it, you want to turn up whats called the three screen controls for the red blue and green but you will need a B & W picture on the TV so you can balance the greay scale. if you do not balance the grey scale the TV will not look good. if you do not think you can do this adjustment properly, please play it safe and call in a tech to do these adjustment for you. Good Luck
