    Need lots more information.

Are the speakers connected to an amp, or using the amp in the headunit?

If an external amp, is it on?

    Using aftermarket speakers, or factory?

If aftermarket, using the factory wiring in the doors or newly run wires?

Do the speakers have a crossover?

Post everything you can think of. :)

I bought a JVC KD-R620 and I can't get To power on without having the ignition wire(red) and the battery wire(yellow) connected. And it won't save my settings either..I don't have a blown fuse...

Ok, just so I get this right. You want this unit to power up, without hooking the 2 power wires??? Red is constant power, yellow is switched power. Did you use a wiring harness to hook the radio up or did you hard wire it? I alway recommend a harness. This would make the install easier. If the unit works witht them wired, use it.

I just bought a new kw-AVX740 radio and i have a 01 mustang and i don't really no how to install it

first and foremost you need to buy a car audio installation kit for your car model and year. Wal mart has some, but i think you may need to drive down to your local car audio shop and buy one from them if wal mart don't have them. Remove the old/factory radio. If an aftermarket radio is already installed then you may get lucky and find the harness already installed, but depending on what kind or radio it is( ex: DIN or Double DIN), but the specs for your radio is Double DIN(fat) so you may still need to buy the installation kit. Once you have the kit, everything is color coded, just match the wires and connect, then plug the harness after you have secured the wires. For a clean professional installation look, solder your wires(60/40 solder and soldering iron needed) and seal the connection with a heat shrink tube(audio shop carries the tube as well) and your good to go. I found you the install manual, just copy and paste(make sure all wires are connected with keys off the ignition until everything is good and connected)

I have a jvc kdavx1 trying to hook up to a 2000 buick reagal need to know how the wires hook up

Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

2000 Buick Regal Car Stereo Install Diagram jvc kdavx1
Radio Constant 12V+ Wire: Orange yellow
Radio Ignition Switched 12V+ Wire: Yellow red
Radio Ground Wire: Black/White black
Radio Illumination Wire: Gray/Black orange/white
Left Front Speaker Wire (+): Tan white
Left Front Speaker Wire (-): Gray white/black
Right Front Speaker Wire (+): Light Green gray
Right Front Speaker Wire (-): Dark Green gray/black
Left Rear Speaker Wire (+): Brown green
Left Rear Speaker Wire (-): Yellow green/black
Right Rear Speaker Wire (+): Dark Blue purple
Right Rear Speaker Wire (-): Light Blue purple/black
parking brake: blue light green

For this last wire, access the back of the parking brake to find a switch with a blue wire. Peel some insulation from the wire and wrap the stripped end of a 3 foot piece of 16 or 18 gauge wire around the stripped section. Solder and wrap the connection with electrical tape, route the wire to the jvc, then strip and solder the other end to the pigtail of the head unit.

If you are also installing a camera seeing behind you when backing, you will need to run a wire to the back-up light on the driver side reverse light (light green) wire along with your video cable.

I have a JVC KD-PDR80 deck. I had it previously installed in a 92 Ford Taurus and had no previous issues with it. Well I went & bought an 03 Saturn L300 and went and hooked everything up and the deck...

Is the connector the was used in the old Ford moved over to the new Saturn car? If so I would double-check each connection. You might need to test each cord individually if you cannot find the details in the user manual or internet for which color wire goes to which speaker. Individually, you can connect the target wire to something with current in it (9v battery) and you should be able to hear some static to identify where the signal goes.

My JVC KD-S25 will only turn on when I press the eject button, and then it shuts off in 5 seconds.

I just bought this stereo and installed it the other day. I had the same issue. Hook the Yellow power wire and the red accessory power wire to the same power source. That solved my problem.

I bought a jvc KD-G140 and when i try to save my preset buttons they dont save after i turn it off

Hi,

Your description indicates that the yellow wire is not correctly installed/connected. It should be tied to the always on B+12 such as the battery + terminal or the main wire of the ignition switch.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

I just installed a KD-G396 into my car. when i turn the keys it turns on for about 2 seconds and turns off again. Then i can't turn it on again until i unplug it or reset it.

Hi,
sounds like the unit is going into 'protect' mode. It does this normally if there is a fault in the speaker connections.

you have to check all the speaker wires to make sure they are connected without touching each other and that the wires are not shorting out to the car bodywork, or any other metal surface.

If everything looks ok. you'll have to check that 1 of your speakers isn't blown.

Regards

Philip

Hey there,

There are two power wires to consider when installing an in dash receiver. They need to be connected to different sources.

Red gets +12VDC when the Ignition is ON.
Yellow gets +12VDC all the time (Fused line straight to the Battery).

The yellow is most likely the problem. If it's power source is interrupted, the unit will 'forget' it's settings.

Double check your power sources (for both red and yellow) and get back with me (either way),
