Solution: Buy and install a new battery pack.

Reason: The battery pack has a special circuit to keep it from being over-charged and over-heating. This circuit will keep your system from running. The orange light is supposed to tell you that your battery is low and is charging. Your battery is not charging and needs to be replaced anyways. You can remove the battery and try to run it without it but usually there is a circuit that will not allow that either.

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

even something as small as a faulty electrical extension or fan lead can cause you problems

computers need all of the data and electrical current to travel through every working device and to have an end to be able work properly

motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail

check all electrical power input and extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working

also check the Cmos battery and computer RAM modules make sure they are securely seated with no dust built up or in the sockets on some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

check you CPU make sure its securely seated and has thermal grease might be getting to hot

another possible reason could be a memory dump you might be running to many programs at the one time putting to much strain on the CPU central processing unit

hope this helps you

WE HAVE JUST HAD A LIGHTENING STRIKE AND ALL POWER IN THE HOUSE WENT OFF WHILST MY ASPIRE E 700 WAS POWERED AFTER THE POWER CAME BACK POWER LIGHT WAS LIT BUT COMPUTER WONT START UP WITH START SWICH

Unplug everything from the laptop, remove the battery and let it sit for 5 minutes. Replace the battery only, not the power brick and see if it will boot.
Does the power brick have a solid green light? Flashing? Red?
If it will not boot off the battery or power brick it may be fried.

It is most likely that your battery is shot, but you could try unplugging your power supply, popping out your battery, and carefully clean the contacts on both the battery and where the battery connects to your laptop.

When i connect external monitor to my ACER ASPIRE ATOM1 NOTEBOOK, the system automatically go to battery,,i mean even if AC is plugged it runs on battery...what could be the reason & how to solve it???

Go to Control Panel and select Power Options. Set up a custom power plan.
Also, remove your battery when using AC to prolong its life. Overcharging can deplete the life of the battery over time.

My ACER aspire 5315 was purchased in may 08 apears to have no power and will not boot up - battery apears to have failed even when it is connected to the mains power.

try removing the battery, connecting it to main power and see if it then boots. that usually works for me; if so, then replace the battery.
