For at least 1 yr my TV makes a very loud noise and then turns on or off - depending on it's current status. We have plugged it directly into the wall, we have plugged it into a surge protector and nothing changes the action. Lately when we turn it on in the morning, it makes the noise and turns off immediately. Do you have any solutions to this issue?
That Emerson was actually made by Funai, and you may have to contact them for service. Emerson used to be a good brand, but they seem to just want to sell or lease their name to any company that wants to use it. Generally speaking, if you're looking for consumer electronics, don't shop at a store whose name ends with Mart. Even though your set is over a year old, it would probably not be worthwhile repairing it. If you decide to try anyway, their telephone number is 1-800-242-7158.
