Question about Computers & Internet

2 Answers

I recently installed drivers for my hp printer, on a compaq computer, with windows xp home edition operating system. when i was prompted to restart computer to complete the installation, i did so, and then computer restarted to only shut down, and restart doing this continuously. i then wanted to side track this repeated and automatic action, so that i may have the opportunity to execute some type of option, and was asked for administrator password. i have been unable to get passed this prompt, and i do not know the password, and previous owner doesnt remember either. how do i get passed this screen, and get my computer to run normal.

thank you for your input, but i cannot even get to the screen where i can type anything in, or be prompted by any options. the computer starts, checks for errors etc., then shows windows xp screen, then for a split second flashes a blue screen and shuts down again and repeats this action automatically

Hey donald

Little more detail would be great.

Step one: WHILE THE COMPUTER IS REBOOTING AND THE SCREEN IS BLANK TAP ON THE F8 BUTTON

Step two: from the available choices choose last know good configuration and then hit enter and then enter again.

THIS SHOULD WORK.

About the password;;;;;

assuming you are pressing ctrl alt del to get the advanced login screen you can try keeping the password field empty or try default passwords like 123456, password, abc123.....

I am pretty sure the blank password will work.

If it doesnot you can try going in the safe mode and uninstalling the hp software.

once the hp software is uninstalled and the computer starts working again let me know and ill help you get the hp on to the computer as well.

Please rate as fixya if this works

Cheers
Keshey

    Using the F8 Method

    1. Restart your computer.

    2. When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment
that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed
etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are
presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.

    3. Do whatever tasks you require and when you are done reboot to boot back
      into normal mode.
choose last know good configuration and then hit enter and then enter again.

    THIS SHOULD WORK.

    if it dont

  • Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.

  • Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.

That problem you dont need to restart the system then you will only click not at this time ebuttom that appear on your screen ok now that there is now a problem now you will have to format that system because if to say it prompt for user password i would have ask you to use the administrator now the administrator you will have to reformat or try and remove the CMOS battery first and lets see if that will work for it or the administrator try and ask that person that does he or she tampper with the administrator password before if he says no then just type in administrator in the password and if it works then thats it and if idont format it ok.Rate this solution.

I cannot install ethernet driver of hp compaq d530. Where can i find it?

Hello: I hope the following information is helpful.
If you are trying to install the driver for the Broadcom ethernet NIC that was pre-installed (NOT an ethernet card that you purchased and installed yourself), there is a softpack (updated driver installation) download available from HP/Compaq. It will install the driver automatically for you, just download it from the link below and run the ".exe" file.
IMPORTANT: Check to be sure that your current Operating System, and model of the network device you are trying to install, are BOTH listed below BEFORE you download!
This is a software / driver update for the HP Compaq d530 ultra-slim desktop: All Models

Describe your officejet 4355 drivers for win 2003 server Problem Cannot install it on Windows Server 2003.. Please HELP...

Hi! I will be glad to assist you in this issue:

Base on the operating system requirement for your printer. Here is the list of the operating system that support and does not support
Microsoft Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000 Professional Service Pack 3 or higher, XP Home, XP Professional, XP Media Center Edition, XP Starter Edition and Tablet PC Edition (does not support Windows 95, 98, 3.1, NT 4.0, DOS, 2003 Server, or Windows Vista editions).

Constant error messages from hp deskjet2400

From the forum this is in, I will assume that you are running Win2k3EE on your laptop. Your issue might be a compatability issue with the print drivers. HP is notorious for making bad print drivers (ever since their aquisition of Compaq...before that, they did rock-solid work IMHO). For this printer, you may want to 1) uninstall the printer and use the Windows printer install wizard, as opposed to the HP installer, or 2) see if HP does offer a Server 2003 specific driver. HP commonly includes a bunch of "junk" in their Deskjet print drivers because those printers are targeted to individual home users who will use XP or Vista. Hope this helps...I know it isn't much to go on...good luck!

Windows XP Home Edition - No Drivers.

vswright is right, you have to make a restore disk when you are happy that that system is running properly (this called system back up and restore) go to the HP support website (HP now own Compaq)
and enter the make and model of the pc and download the device drivers you need, if you experience any problems, get back to us
