What makes a computer does not display

Hi
There are many reasons why a computer might not display. The most obvious are
1. Monitor not plugged in (mains or computer), powered on etc
2. The video/graphics card which translates the computer's operations to a format the monitor can display may be faulty, set to a resolution the monitor can't handle
3 The video card may not be seated properly in its slot
4. The section of the motherboard dealing with graphics may be faulty.
5. The power supply being distributed by the motherboard to the graphics card slot may be not working/insufficient.
Hope this gives you some idea of the possible answers to your question. A lot more detail on the computer, graphics card, monitor etc is required to give a more relevant, less generalised answer.
All the best

Borders on external monitor after Dell Latitude D630 wakes from sleep

Thomas Motley,
Your monitor is displaying like it is because the graphics card refresh rate has changed. Check that the display driver is correct for your graphics card and that you are not using the generic windows driver. If the driver is correct then look in desktop properties, settings, advanced, monitor and check that the refresh rate is correct for you monitor.

Thank You,

Your graphics driver may be corrupted or not properly installed. You need to install that to get proper graphics and also to prevent restarts.

The operating system was reinstalled. I can't get my Acer X203H monitor to display on the entire wide screen. It displays like a standard monitor...not the widescreen picture I had before the...

do you have the graphics drivers installed properly. check from device manager. if they are installed, then go to graphic properties by right clicking on desktop and from properties, choose settings then try different resolution settings..probably higher. untill you get full screen. otherwise adjust from your graphic control panel..might give you wide screen options.

I get this error when I try to play a DVD on my laptop using WDVD

I assume that you are using a TV with the Computer to watch a Blu-Ray disc using HDMI connection.

In order to play a Blu-ray Disc (BD) movie on a television, the display configuration must be set to display on the television only. Having the image set to display on the computer and the television at the same time will generate the above STOP error message "Your display environment does not support protected content playback message".

Follow this procedure to properly configure the settings
needed to play a Blu-ray Disc (BD) movie on a television.

1. Connect the Computer to the TV using an HDMI cable.

2. On the Computer, click the Start -> Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Adjust screen resolution.

3. In the Display Settings window, click the Advanced Settings button -> Intel Graphics Media Accelerator tab -> Graphics Properties button.

4. In the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator window, under Operating Mode, click the down arrow and then click to select Single Display.

5. Under Primary Device click the down arrow and then click to select Digital Television, and then OK.

6. At the Confirm the Desktop Change prompt, click the OK.

7. In the Advanced Settings window, click the OK button.

8. In the Display Settings window, click the OK button.

9. In the Control Panel window, click Hardware and Sound.

10. In the Hardware and Sound window, under Sound, click Manage audio devices.

11.In the Sound window, click to select HDMI Device, and then click the Set Default button.

12. In the Sound window, click the OK button.

13. Now close the Control Panel window.

NOTE: Also check for any update for the software you are using to play the videos and update for the Video Driver

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!

Displays 'Input Not Supported' at start up om black screen

Seems that you have set the resolution on your graphics card to a setting higher than the maximum resolution supported by your monitor.
Try to boot into Safe Mode & lower the resolution of your graphics card. If not possible, go to Device Manager & remove the graphics card from it, then reboot your computer. This will reset the resolution.
You can then re-install your graphics card drivers & get it to work properly.

Everything on the screen is enlarged?

You should be able to reset you screen resolution by clicking on Display inside the control panel. Go to the Settings tab once the display properties window opens and look for the screen resolution area that allows you to adjust the resolution. If its set at the low end, move it over to the high end and press Apply to test out the new sizing

Test it in another computer - if the same happens then you may need to replace the card.

As regards working "on cam" do you mean that HIS screen now works properly or do you mean that others can see the image clearly on their computers. If the latter, then it still looks like a dud video card.

Have you gone into Control Panel - Display and checked the settings? I don't think that there are any settings that would create the symptoms though.

Good luck.
