Machine will not start

it's not a heat related shut down. it was shutdown to be moved to a different office. when we tried to restart it nothing, switch does not even power the board on.  jumped the atx power supply and everything comes on, fans, drives, board lights, but board does not come on at all, no beep, no screen activity no keyboard lights nothing at all.  more then likely motherboard failure. so now the question is what model motherboard is in this unit.

Did you swap out the RAM and/or CPU. Is this a heat related shutdown?

No power on my PowerEdge 1800 Server

dells power supplies must come from dell. I would call dell and give then the service tag number of your server and they will be able to tell you about how much a power supply is.

IBM X-206 SERVER : NOT BOOTING : HANGS

As a first step, I would check to see if the power supply has become defective. There should be no foul smell comming from any part in your computer, so get in there and figure out which part is stinking up the place.
Other reasons for a computer not booting;
defective motherboard defective RAM or poor connection from RAM to motherboard defective peripheral or poor connection from peripheral to motherboard

Connect HP Proliant ML350 Server.

Hi,

Please verify if your server power specs support 110 or 220 V. If you are in the US, eventhough you might have connected a 220V cable the line voltage can be 110.
Check with your power company if they can provide you the necessary wattage of the server.(Specs are printed on the power supply. you can read it from HP web also)

Once you are sure that, connect both power suppllies and try booting.

If the error still occurs, it can be a power supply failure or some other hardware failure.

Regs,

Dell PowerEdge 2300 - Monitor, keyboard and mouse will not respond

It sounds like the power supply is failing.

Failing power supplies will sometimes deliver just enough power to make the fans spin but not enough for the motherboard and drives to start.

I hope this helps.

Concise Question, Poweredge 1800 powerup failure

It is definitely the PSU that's not working properly, because defective motherboard should still receive the 12V. you can use a desktop standard power supply to check if the server runs fine, even a cheap one is ok for a test run. they sell also cheap (about 15-20$) PSU tester, definitely worth when working with servers and WS.
the Power supply fan might have a dedicated rail coming from the thermal sensor(thermistor.)this is why it can run even with bad 12V rail.

Booting problem

Hi Yunisa,
I need a little more info on this issue. Do you hear the power supply fan operating when you switch the server on? Did the server still startup even though the monitor is not displaying? Did this problem just occur or where there other signs of a problem coming? This may sound a little foolish to you, but check to make sure that the server is plugged into power and that the monitor is connected properly. There should at least be a message on the monitor indicating there is no signal coming to the monitor. The first thought that comes to mind if all is connected would be that the power supply has failed. Please check this out and get back to me with info.
