Microsoft Money etc. Sync Problem with iPAQ hx2495b

PDA sync was good with my PC running XP and ActiveSync. Bought new Samsung R700 Laptop running Vista and installed Windows Mobile Device Centre from the Microsoft website. Connecting the PDA to the laptop is recognised and on opening the Mobile Device Centre it gives the connected indication at the same time a window pop's up -

Microsoft Visual C++

Runtime Library with a Runtime Error:

Program C:\Windows|Windows Mobile\WmdHost.exe
abnormal program termination.

Other indications:-
On the Mobile Device Centre window, it states that sync has taken place? I have no idea if anything has been sunc'd.
In Mobile Device Settings, Change Content Sync Settings is greyed out.

Your help in resolving this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Regards.

Hugh Jones

My posting has gotten all garbled and mixed with previous problem.
I have a Dell Axim 51v connecting to Windows Mobile Device Center
under Vista Basic. When I try to connect via USB, the program
WmdHost.exe has an error which seems to be a Virtual C++
runtime error. Downloading new version of Virtual C++ does not fix
the problem. My Vista system has all the latest updates and Dell
does not produce anymore updatessince 2007. Have also scanned and fixed errors in registry. I am about to give up any hope of getting PDA and Vista system synchronising ever again.

Thanks for your suggestions. Had already tried reloading Windows Mobile Device Center versions 6.0 and 6.1., and virtual c++. Still same virtual c++ runtime error. So I did a system restore from about 4 days ago and bingo, it's all working again. So the bug must have been in Vista, as I thought.

sorry that it did not help..can i suggest that u make a new user account and try setting up the sync just to know it can be done with ur ppc and pc
i saw lot of forums and one suggestion was to do a soft reset and then sync..the wmdhost.exe is not part of vista..so uninstalling and reinstalling mobile device centre can be an option..

When you connect the PDA Windows needs to create a network connection to the device. One of the files it uses is WmdHost.exe.
It sounds like the Windows firewall or another firewall program installed on your computer is blocking WmdHost.exe.

Try this:
Disconnect PDA, close Device Center and disable your firewall.
Open Device Center, connect PDA, cross fingers and be patient.

Here is a link to more Device Center troubleshooting:

I hope this helps.

How i can sync my Ipaq h3955 with my pc win xp

In order to sync your iPAQ with Windows XP or earlier, you will need to download and install Windows Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 from:http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/activesync-download.mspx.

Notes:
You can use ActiveSync 4.5 only with phones that run Windows Mobile 2003 or later versions. ActiveSync and Windows Mobile Device Center won’t work with Windows Embedded CE 4.2 or 5.0, Pocket PC 2002, or Smartphone 2002 phones. (To see which Windows Mobile operating system you’re using, if your phone doesn’t have a touch screen, click Start > Settings > About. If your phone has a touch screen, click Start > Settings > System tab > About.) To sync information to any of these phones, you must use a USB or serial cable and your computer’s Internet connection and File Explorer.
You must use Microsoft Outlook 2002, Outlook 2003, or Office Outlook 2007 to sync your e-mail, contacts, tasks, and notes from your computer.

Download and install ActiveSync:
1. Click the download link on this page, and then click Continue.
2. Select whether you want to register for the Windows Mobile newsletter, and then click Continue.
3. Click Download files below, and then click Download (next to the Setup.msi file).
4. In the File Download dialog box, click Run.
5. Follow the instructions in the Installation Wizard to install ActiveSync.

Note: You must use a USB cable to connect your phone to your computer the first time you use ActiveSync to synchronize information.

I AM TRYING TO SYNC MY HP iPAQ TO MY COMPUTER, BUT AN MESSAGE ERROR SAYS THAT 'RAPI.DLL' IS MISSING. WHERE I CAN DOWNLOAD 'ACTIVE SYNC' AND 'RAPI.DLL'

You can download the Microsoft ActiveSync from:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/activesync-download.mspx

This package contains the rapi.dll inside it.

Note: Microsoft ActiveSync is for windows XP and earlier version only. In case of Microsoft VISTA download Windows Mobile Device Center.

HP Ipaq h1940 won't sync with Vista

Hi. While holding power button, and pressing reset will do a hard reset to your PDA (reset the device to its factory default settings). So if your PDA is working well, don't do it. As for the syncronization with your Vista PC; Winodws XP uses the ActiveSync software for syncronization, and for Windows Vista, Microsoft developed a brand new syncronization software called "Windows Mobile Device Center". It can be downloaded here: (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center-download.mspx). When you download/install this software to your PC, you should be able to connect your PDA to your PC without any problem, and definitely without changing any OS in your PDA or PC. Hope this helps.

HP iPAQ 110 will not active sync

no operating systems stated,
windows 10? what?
why would a battery this old be good, if was, its like world record.
buy a new battery ,better upgrade to smart phone.

sync
but the HP end and the Microsoft end have to have compatible and working drivers. to work.
the 110 is dead product at HP
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=3544497

your only hope is talking to Microsoft now,
see if they support it, my guess w10 does not
how far back , support software drivers ended, ask MS.
looks like (hard to track) w7 is last OS supported.

i see scalpers selling drivers now, for this old product.
good luck with them,,,

try asking on a real HP forum
other asked this vast times, and the answers are dead correct.

excerpted
Unfortunately, WMDC is not compatible with Windows 8 and you will not be able to sync your Outlook related data to your iPAQ. There is no expectation that Microsoft has any plans to update WMDC to make it compatible.
You may be able to use a third party paid application to sync the data, like Companion Link or Akruto Sync.

try syncing through bluetooth, there could be a problem with the cradle. i have had an issue very similar to yours and had to do a soft reset on my pda. then set up your device to use a blue tooth connection( you may need to buy a bluetooth dongle for your pc).

Please help! Cannot sync....

You need to install Activesync onto your PC. Activesync comes on the CD that came with your Ipaq , or the latest version can be downloaded from here... http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2eb5bd80-d52c-45 60-ae11-da92f2b229fa&DisplayLang=en Then from your PC (not your IPAQ), open Activesync, click on File, Get Connected and do NOT cradle the IPAQ until it tells you to. The Activesync on the IPAQ is for wireless syncs, which cannot be done until youu establish a partnership with this first wired sync. You will need a wireless network to do a wireless sync.
