Question about Belkin (F5D5231-4) Router

1 Answer

Chanched NAT and got locked out.

I was trying to connect my xbox 360 to my network to share files. I disabled NAT and was promptly kicked offline. I reset the router and still cannot connect. So, I can't get online to undo what I've done. I'm online through the modem right now.

Also, how can I connect my xbox to the network successfully?
Thanks.

unfortunately I can't do that unless I can actually get online through my router... which I still cannot connect to.

Once you have logged into your router, enable the DMZ feature and put in the IP address of your 360.

This will put your 360 outside of the routers firewall and it will give you a full open connection to XBox Live.

Worse case scenario - if it's your router. Clear the data on it and start again.

On the back or bottom of the unit, you'll find the RESET buttonhole. With a paperclip and left powered on insert the clip and hold it in for 10 seconds - you'll see the router reboot. You'll be back to factory default and start your process again as if you got it out of the box.

How to connect to xbox live with laptop xp and dongle no router

You have to enable internet connection sharing on your laptop. Go to Start-->Control Panel-->Network Connections.
A screen will pop up with all of your NICs (network interface cards). Right click your dongle and select Properties.
At the top of the new window you will see an Advanced tab. Select that tab, and then check internet connection sharing.
You may or may not see an additional drop down menu that will allow you to select the interface to share with. If you do, select the Ethernet connection and then apply.
Connect your XBOX by Ethernet to your laptop. You may have to test the connection through your XBOX network setup.
If you have a firewall, you may have to allow this new connection, and do additional changes to your firewall in order to adjust your NAT (network address translation), however, I have been able to play on live with limited NAT.
***** IMPORTANT***** Make sure you have unlimited data through your provider or you will get an outrageous bill. I have Clear wireless on an unlimited plan, and it works fine. If you have Verizon, you will be sorry when your next bill arrives.

make sure you and your friends have open NAT, you need to port forward certain ports for xbox live on your router, try to check if ubisoft also has specific ports need to be open. if still the same contact your ISP, they might be having problems.

I do not know how to change my NAT setting to open on Xbox Live

First of all I would just like to cover the basics of strict and moderate NAT settings. For those interested, NAT stands for Network Address Translation and is used to prevent problems with information being sent over a shared network.
With the XBOX 360, Microsoft have defined three categories of NAT. These are:

1. Strict
2. Moderate
3. Open

You can see the NAT level for your XBOX Live connection by going into your
1. System blade
2. Network Settings
3. Test Xbox Live Connection

For you question on how to open your NAT setting follow the steps below:

1. Type the IP address of your router in a web browser.
2. It will prompt you for a user name and password once connected
3. After logging in you will have a control panel of setting up different settings in your router.
4. The IP address, and default user name/password are different on every route
Note: 192.168.1.1 is a pretty common address for most routers.
5. Check the manual that came with your router for that info.

I also provided a few links below of password lists of different routers.

I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you for using FixYa!

Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
