What did you install last?

Do you see anything? Boot logo, anything on the screen at all? Is there another monitor attached to it? Was the BIOS changed to look for an external monitor on boot?

Is there another monitor you can conect to it. (If it has a connection for an external monitor.) If you can, and you see Windows boot form it, odds are your screen needs servicing.

See if you can install a video card and boot from that. If you see anything, odds are the integrated video is shot.

The section you posted in "Generic problem for all PC Desktops" led to believe that this was a desktop, but the model number you provided, tells me different.

The only things I can think of at this point, before I resolve to a dead screen are:

    1. Hit the RESET button on the bottom of your laptop. (If one is provided.)

    2. Remove the battery for 10 mins and reboot, after re-inserting it.

DIP SWITCH BIOS RESET POSITIONS SONY VAIO VGN-fs660

Hello,
There are 2 ways you can reset your bios2_bing.gif.

1. On the motherboard there is a small watch battery. Remove this battery along with the power cable from the power supply. Hold down the power button to fully discharge the system. Wait 2-3 minutes then reinstall the battery and plug in2_bing.gif your system. Your reset is now complete

2. Some motherboards have a 3 pin jumper by the battery. Lets say that the jumper is on pins 2 and 3. Remove the jumper while the machine is OFF and place onto pins 1 and 2. Power on your machine for a minute. (Note: Your system will not POST). Shutdown your machine and put the jumper back to pins 2 and 3. Your reset is now complete

This is a great troubleshooting2_bing.gif step for those of you having POST issues or no POSTing at all. Like other troubleshooting steps, this will not always work but usually will depending on the problem.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Thanks.

SONY VAIO CMOS BATTERY LOCATION

Correction...

The CMOS battery is located under the system board, and is not accessible from under the keyboard.

The keyboard has to be removed in order to change the CMOS batter, (another reason why I don't like Sony laptops.)

Below is the batter I just pulled from a user's VGN-FS660\W 892cbd5.jpg
