Question about Computers & Internet

Screen began flashing then went dark

The screen has been working fine the whole time I've had the computer, then last night the screen began to flash like someone was playing with the contrast. Then the screen went dark but I could still JUST barely see what was supposed to be on the screen. HELP!! Does anyone know whats wrong or how to fix it?

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

SOURCE: my compaq presario m2000 screen is very dark

The whole LCD screen does not need to be replaced. The driver board for the screen backlight has quit working. You can search "Make-Model-Backlight Problem" or "Make-Model-Dark Screen". I fixed one about a year ago with the exact same problem and it cost $80. The repair took less than 10 minutes to replace the part.

SOURCE: acer aspire one will not work.

Hi,

If you get a post screen with Acer written on it at startup, and the screen turns off when loading the system (Windows or Linux), then you need to reinstall the system using an external USB cd unit and the recovery disk that was provided with your Acer.

If instead the display has no screen at all , try connecting an external monitor to test the laptop.

If you get picture on external monitor, then the Aspire One has a faulty LCD ribbon cable or a faulty LCD display or inverter.

If you get no picture on external screen , then you have a faulty motherboard, possibly faulty video chipset on motherboard.

In any case check your Acer One warranty, all the faults listed are covered by Acer warranty for one year.
Contact Acer at the number listed on documentation to have the computer repaired.

SOURCE: dark display

You most likely have a defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:

  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

You might have some viruses and malware.

Start your PC and press F8 several times until the boot menu comes up. Then select "Safe Mode with Networking". Now get some or ALL of the FREE programs below...

Download, Install and Run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

Envision EN7410e monitor

Just fixed mine. Maybe it's a few years late. Hope you guys still have the display. It's the power supply board. I've just replaced 4 bulge capacitors near one edge of the PS. They are 2x1000uF 10V, 1x470uF 25V & 1x470 10V. I salvaged my parts from an old CRT monitor. Hey you can go green with your repairs too!
