Its most likely bad hardware. If it just blinks on then off, its probably got damage to its circuit board. It most likely a paper wait now. Sorry dude.

Most items have a 1 year manufacturers warranty and if its still covered, Call them and send it in. Save the time and trouble of guessing.

It almost sound like your player is on a standby mode or something if you turn it on and it turns off. You turn it back on and it stays on is because when you think you turning it on, it was actually turning it off. Sound kooky but that's what it looks like to me.

Power off when inserting vhs tape

I had this problem when copying an old family vhs tape. I had to unscrew the top of the magnavox to access the vhs tape. Then, I gently removed the tape and replaced the cover. After winding the tape back, I put it in the player and immediately pushed fast forward for about 3 seconds before hitting play followed by d.dubbing. I was able to make a copy of the tape and did not damage my original.

Power goes off when a cassette is inserted. Tried cleaning heads but it won't even run that. When power is turned back on the cassette is immediately ejected.

Good day!!!

Most common problems
  • VCR refuses to FF or REW and shuts off.
  • VCR shuts off entering PLAY or REC or at random during PLAY or REC.
  • VCR eats tapes.
  • VCR doesn't accept tapes or ejects them without cause.
  • Sound is wavery, fluctuating, or muddy.
The cause for all of these is very often a bad idler tire or other dirty, worn, or tired rubber parts

My player won't turn on. when i press the power button it powers up then shuts down immediately and now it won't come on at all.

I fixed my DMR-ES10 with a new capacitor. You can tell if it is a capacitor because it will be bulged or exploded and stuff will be leaking out.

Sony DVP-NC600, CD/DVD Player

Hey llacy2,

There may actually be a number of reasons that this may be occuring, and there are a couple of things that you can try in order to resolve this type of problem.

You may wish to first clean the discs being placed in the DVD tray with a soft cloth. Any kind of dirt, scratches or cracks on the disc may cause the unit to immediately reject it. Once the disc has been cleaned, try to insert it again. If the disc is rejected a second time, you may need to try a different title.

If the problem still persists with more than one disc, the manufacturer has suggested both turning the DVD player off and fully unplugging the player (power cord, other connections and all). You may wish to allow at least 1 full minute before reconnecting the player and AC adaptor, but if the problem isn't resolved after doing so you may need to contact a repair facilty for further assistance.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

Power immediately shuts off

you have something in the power supply. are you a tech person? if you are. open the device and unplug the power board from the rest of the device. turn it on and see if this happens again. if it does, then you have a problem with power unit in you device. I would say a capacitor is at fault somewhere..as I said before if you are not a tech person, take it to a repair man. good luck
