Question about GE Spacemaker Washer and Dryer Electric Laundry Center

A gasket between the front blower housing and air duct?

In repairing something with the washer unit of my ge spacemaker laundry system (wsm2780wawww) i noticed what appeared to be a lint build-up between the front blower housing and the air duct.  upon further inspection it appeared to be a foam gasket of sorts that is worn out, allowing lint to fall into the unit.  so, 2 questions:  is there supposed to be a foam gasket there?  and, if so, is there a way to replace it without having to replace either the front blower housing or the air duct?  thank you in advance!

The foam gasket is suppose to be there but as far as ordering by itself I am not sure if you can but can some foam from your local hardware and put on there

Dryer not getting hot / washer won't run unless dryer on.

If these are separate units, you might have an electrical wiring problem in your house or apartment. If one unit (washer with dryer above), check to make sure the power cord is firmly attached to the terminals. Many other possible causes, too.

My GE Spacemaker dryer will run but the washer will not start in any cycle (stacked unit)

It looks serious problem. You should go to your nearest repairer to solve the problems if you don't want to stay without your washer.

You do need the model number to order parts...typically on a stacked unit the model number is inside the dryer door

I have a GE stackable unit and I recently broke the belt on the washer- I think. Can I fix it? How do I get the unit open? Thank you for any assistance you can give.

Two screws on the very bottom, remove them and take something flat and insert it in the crack where the washer top is and the front panel. The front panel will slide down and out towards you...if no water is in the unit then push the tub back towards the rear and the motor will lift enough to work on it, replace the belt around the main pulley and then push the spring loaded pulley towds the left towards the main pulley and slide the belt onto the motor pulley...

My suspicion is that the damper on the dryer vent is not completely closing, allowing the cold air to pass into the house. Also check to see if the vent hose is sealed to the vent with duct tape or steel tape.

My GE spacemaker dryer has heat but very little air flow. We cleaned the air vent but it didn't help, what else might be wrong? Thanks so much.

Make sure it is clean from the blower wheel to the vent exit. Make sure the blower isn't slipping on the motor shaft. Eric

My space saver dryer will not get hot ,everything else works fine

If everything else works, but not heating, than the problem is either:
Clogged air ducts
or
Heating element needs to be replaced.

Washer will not drain

I just repaired one that had a needle stuck in the pump. Take the front cover off and the pump is in the lower left corner. Remove hoses and pull pump out then dis assemble pump and clean out.
If that does not do it you have to replace the pump.
