Question about Whirlpool 24 in. DU1100XTPS Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

The whirlpool dishwasher I just bought used and installed in my rental property leaked from the bottom of the front door. The dish washer had been sitting for some time before I bought it. What will fix the leak?

My dishwasher is about 3 years old and it started leaking in the front about a month ago. I run it once a day. My husband pulled it out of the cabinet and ran it. We can see it leaking at the front right and when there is a lot of water it runs down the face plate to the other side. It looks like the front seal is no longer holding in the water.

it may not be the door that is leaking if this is an older admiral or whirlpool dishwasher the lever that holds the soap door closed has a little rubber seal that after time will let water in during the wash cycle it the runs down the inside of the door and out the bottom if you rmove the in side of the door you will probably see the water trail from the wax motor down. this gasket is not expensive or hard to replace.

You most likly need a new bottom door seal. Usually 3 screws down each side of the door and then two screws hold the bottom door seal in place. The bottm door seal can look fine but if its leaking out the bottom front this is the problem 99 % of the time, Unless someone is using dish soap to preclean the dishes or using regular in the dishwasher.

My whirlpool dishwasher is leaking water from the bottom of door

Water is being forced out under the bottom door seal. Is the lower spray arm melted on the bottom? Or is there something directing the water flow toward the bottom of the tub instead of up toward the dishes?

Door leaks on the floor in front of my dishwasher

1. make sure dishwasher is level front to back and side to side.
2. check the main washer arm (WD22X154) on the bottom side for leaks. If you use heated dry, the heating elements can cause the part of the spray arm directly over it to soften and eventually leak. When water comes out that leak it can spray at the bottom of the door, splashing water inside it and resulting in your leak.
3. if 1 and 2 OK, watch how you load the lower rack. If dishes or a bowl direct water from the lower wash arm to spray against the bottom of the door, especially at the center of the door bottom, the resulting splash inside the door allows water to hit the outer door panel and drip out a one or both corners of the door.
