You go to my computer, then double click the d: drive. then minimize that screen. Go back to my computer, double click the verbatim (assuming it is already plugged in) then on the start menu bar, right click on it (an empty area) and go to tile windows vertically. Then move files from your D to you Verbatim drive. Since it is not your C drive, there should not be anything in there that you can move that will mess up your computer. But still be cautious.

You should be able to open windows explorer, navigate to the external hard drive, click on it and see the files which are there. Then you can pick the ones you want to delete and delete them.

Dumb me I forgot how to transfer data to my verbatim. Can you help.

All you have to do is open the window for the external drive and click and drag the folders that you want to copy. Always put files in folders or the drive will say it's full before it is.

Connect the external drive.
Open 'My Computer'.
One of the icons should be associated with the external drive.
Double-click the icon to "open" the external drive, to show the files/folders on the drive.

The usual limit is exactly 2GB, not 1GB.
It's a limitation of the file-system used for the directory of the disk-drive, when formatted according to the 'FAT32' specifications.

So, copy all the files currently on the Verbatim to your disk-drive.
Then, "reformat" the external (not the "internal") disk-drive, using the 'NTFS' file-system. This file-system has a maximum-file-size limitation for one file that is _much_ larger than the capacity of your Verbatim.

Then, copy all the "saved" files back onto the Verbatim.

Finally, copy your "large" files onto the Verbatim.

May I know the Model # of the External Hard Drive?

You can directly copy the data that you want to backup and paste it in the external Hard Drive. You can also right click on the folder/data and select sent to option--->and then select the external hard drive (a drive letter will be assigned to the external hard drive also).

How to use verbatim model # usb500

Plug it in one of the usb ports of your computer. Check if the external hard drive has a power button.
Normally, something will pop up on the screen asking you to install the software that came with it.

Follow the instructions and you may now use the external drive as your back up drive.

You have to partition your Verbatim Drive to work on a Mac. Go to Macintosh HD / Applications / Utilities / Disk Utility. When in Disk Utility select the 232.9 GB SAMSUNG HM250HI Media to the left.

Dear,

1. Make sure you have full rights to do so.

try copying the files to a subfolder. The FAT file system has a limit of how many files & file name characters you can store in the root folder.
