Open Question

XACT XRT1 Stream Jockey Satillite Radio Reciever

My reciever has been working with out fail for a good year or so. Never had been dropped or mishandled. I had it playing in the boombox and all was great until I tried to change the channel with the remote. I could not change the channel and it turns it self on and off. The signal strength is perfect where I have it, but it doen't keep itself on long enough to try to pick up the signal. Any ideas?

When I turned the unit off, it had been working fine. When I turned it back on, it would only come up to the logo screen and then cycle through again. It keeps repeating without actually booting up.

SOURCE: boombox does not maintain connection to radio

if the problem can be "fixed" by pushing down the reciever, it must be caused by some sort of loose contacts or wiring. there's a good chance that tightning some screw will solve this problem. if you have basic electronic skills you can open the unit and check for any loose screw or wire.

My sony cfs-w360boombox plays tape at high speed upon play, normal or high speed poition

there may be 2 possibles

1, the pinch roller is not going down and staying in the fixed when during playback, easy way to check power down the unit, press play and see if it looks firm, it will push back, if working right

if its loose, it may well have come off a little sping, and may well be an easy ish fix, by someone who know about cassette decks,

2, the speed adjustment has failed, there will be an internal speed control, which keeps the playback at a correct speed, if this has failed it may be fixable, but only by someone who can take it to bits and remove and solder a new one in, and they are very small and Sony items i have had have failed on speed control! too for me its a junker box

good luck

I can't get the cd to play. Every thing els works. How do I get the cd to play?

The only thing you can try is cleaning the lens with rubbing alcohol and a Q-Tip carefully and allow several minutes to dry. If that fails! cheaper to replace the Boombox.

Our Insignia Boombox does not detect the CD. CDs are placed in the Boombox face up, but it continues to say "no disc."

I hope you mean "label side up" since every boombox I have ever seen plays discs face down. If you are putting them in upside down, your CDs certainly won't be detected. However, maybe in yours the CD does need to go in that way.

If you are putting the discs in the right way, the lens on the laser pickup may be dirty. You can try a cleaning disc, but these often don't do any good. And in some multi-disc players they can even jam and cause damage. It's usually best to clean the lens with a cotton swab and lens cleaner.

Another possibility is that the pickup is just too worn out to play anymore. If this is a new problem and it's not because of dirt, the pickup may need to be replaced. Over time the laser power drops, and when it gets too weak there isn't enough light bouncing off the disc for the pickup to register it. Pickups are replaceable, but depending on the part cost and the work needed to get to it, it may be more economical to replace the boombox.

Cd player does not work

Try cleaning the lens using a CD Cleaner you can buy from alot of shops.
If it fails use it a few times then if it still wont play , or the disk failed to spin all together then you probably have a faulty spindle motor.

No power

If completely dead, power is not reaching the power supply. If it is getting in there then the problem lies within the power supply of unit

Boombox does not maintain connection to radio

Here is the fix,Thanks to all of you for your detailed comments I found an easy way to repair the boom box. Many of you said that if you pushed down on the radio hard it would play so I tried it and I too had the same problem, but since it is impossible to stand all day holding the radio and get anything else done I figured if you can't lower the radio raise the plug! Here is what I did, first unplug the radio so you don't short anything out, then at the front of the plastic plate the radio plugs into gently pry it up with a lock blade knife (as a rule kitchen knives are too flexible) then get a small self tapping screw (the smaller the better) and screw it into the gap made by the knife the radio will now play without any problem!
