Poloroid lcd tv dead after used as laptop monitor, no leds

Bought a poloroid 32 inch 323b and replaced control box when I first got it used, used it for a laptop monitor one day with the vga cables, py laptop froze up and I had to hard re-boot by holding the power down, when I did this, the tv turned off as a desktop monitor would, after that it would not turn on at all, no led lit on the front panel, just nothing, checked the fuse at power cord, nothing. opened the control box and the power board seems to have 45-50 volts with the multimeter but I really don't know what to probe so I am hesitant to mess with it further without help. Is this thing worth fixing or should I just move on?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, the concern would be for a dead Polaroid FLM-323B. Your post indicate that you have checked the fuse and replaced the control box. Some ideas you may want to explore:

  • get access to a full service manual. With the schematics and voltage checks, you can avoid the guessing game;
  • since the fault started with the laptop connected and signal was lost, it is highly possible that the fault would be with the signal board;
  • additionally, you may want to consider the cost if you will seek the services of a qualified professional plus board/parts cost to exceed economical repair;
  • with this in mind, performing a DIY (do-it-yourself) would be to your advantage.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls postback how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Where is the AV button on the remote for the Poloroid 26 Inch LCD?

Hello

I believe that you have the orginal remote control of Poloroid FXM-2611C with you, and posts this solution
There is a 'square button' on the extreme left just below the "Disp" button marked 'TV'. Repeted press of this button, you can change the input mode to TV/AV.

To select different input modes use [input] button.
You can change the inputs to various modes. Refer to its user manual for details. OK

Hi,
Most probably, Electrolytic condenser in the Power supply to display circuit may have punctured resulting in smoke coming out. Take tv to service centre. There is no other option.
Good luck.
Rating the solution is highly appreciated.
