Are you using a different USB port to the one that you have used before. sometimes Windows will want you to install the drivers everytime you put the USB cable into a different USB port. Simply select the same port as you have before and this may work. Otherwise you may have a corrupted driver and may need to uninstall the current driver and then reconnect the camera and install a new copy of the camera or usb driver. Please ask if you need further assistance.

I hope this helps
John

Try restarting your computer or try it on a different computer, "Busy" usually means something is preventing your computer from reading the camera. If that does not help, try calling Radio shack or Staples.

Computer don't recognize the Canon EOS XSi

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Software that comes with the camera

This isn't a problem on your computer. The problem is either in the cable between the computer and your camera, or the problem is in your camera.

1) Try a new USB cable. You can buy them at any camera or computer store. Make sure you get the same type of USB cable - take the old one with you so you can compare the ends, or better yet take your camera and make sure you get one that fits into the plug on your camera.

If this doesn't work, you have two options:

2) Use a card reader. You can buy one for $20 or less at most camera and computer stores. You may also have one already built into your computer or printer. Remove the card from the camera, use the card reader to copy the files to your computer, then you can import the files using the same process you used before - start the software then tell it to import from the card or from the copied files on your computer.

3) Send your camera into Canon for repair.

Good luck!
