Control Panel went blank after self-clean cycle on gas range

Hi,

We have a KitchenAid KGSA906 gas range. We used the self-clean cycle for the first time and the control panel went blank during the self-clean cycle and the over door is also locked. I now found out out that this is a common problem on these models and it is related to the thermal fuse. How do I access and replace the thermal fuse on these models. Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Hari

hmmm....that interlock is dependent on a temperature sensor, to ensure that no one opens that door when it's too hot inside. I'm assuming that it's still locked, even after the temperature has dropped off?

Self cleaning attempt has shut down the control panel.

You need an air flow kit, part 81911788 and a professional to install it.

Does Kitchenaid have a fix for this problem? Who do I contact? "After starting the Self Cleaning Mode the Display went blank and the Oven Door stayed locked. The Burner Igniters still work"

the hi-limit thermostat has been tripped. it needs to be replaced and also make sure that the cooling fan is working ok. thermostat is located behind the back panel. looks like a disk the size of a quarter with two wires on it

After using the self-clean cycle, display panel went black and oven door stayed locked.

Happens alot dont feel bad , self clean mode runs the elements at 500 deg. to cook off everything possible , what happens is the cabinet gets to hot and heats saftey temp. fuses until they go out and they are not resetable. they are always located in different areas of ranges but usaully in the back. you can ohm them out to check them if you have a meter.let me know if you have any other questions.

there is a thermal fuse in the back of the oven that more than likely has tripped during self clean poor air flow around can cause this power surges during self clean can too you have to pull the oven out and remove back panel to find it

On most models, the door stays locked during a self clean, until the temperature returns to normal for safety reasons.

It sounds like your unit may have tripped a breaker during this self clean event. Check your panel for a tripped breaker. If the oven has cooled down, and the lock is still engaged, then we may have a different problem.

Let me know what you find out!
