Question about Smeg FC40RX Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
Last night I discovered that my freezer had just defrosted. The door was shut and everything setting wise appeared normal. I cannot get the freezer to freeze again and the red LED light on the top left of the freezer is now on. There is nothing in my manual that explains what these lights and buttons are for although I imagine the red light is warning me about something. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get my food frozen again? Thanks
Several problems can cause this. It may be "stuck" in the defrost cycle, the compressor start device could have failed, the temp control system could have failed, evap fan could be bad and not circulating cold air, or worst case is the sealed system has leaked all the refrigerant out. Post again with more info like: Is the compressor running? Are there any fans running? Does the temp control turn the compressor off and on? It never hurts to unplug the unit for a few minutes and then plug it back in to see if it will kick over and run again. We'll have to go back and forth with some troubleshooting to narrow it down.
