Question about Video Game Consoles

When powered on the Xbox 360 shows a blue screen only and nothing else. The CD-ROM slide functions OK but the machine does not seem able to read anything from it.

Blue screen normally means that you either

a) did not plug in the video cable all the way (yellow)
b) are on the wrong input on the tv

Xbox 360 DVD Drive Not Reading Games Only DVD,CD after replacing the dvd rom

If you replaced the DVD-ROM drive yourself, some newer Xboxes do not recognize and/or function properly with older drives. I tried replacing a drive in an older Xbox with an older yet DVD-ROM drive, and it would not work. When replacing a DVD-ROM in an Xbox, it is advisable to use the same model drive, as the Xbox does strange things when you introduce different hardware. The url of a page is below that details the different drives that Xboxes use. See if your new drive is the same as the old one, and if not, that is almost certainly the issue.

My 360 is not reading the disk what can i do?

Hi there,

There are a couple of steps you can take when your 360 isn't reading your DVD-Rom.
First off, try another game, if it reads it then your 360 is working properly. Your game on the other hand may have scratched which need to be cleaned. If it's cracked, there's nothing you can do.

If it's not reading any other game disk, then you should try airing out the dust in your 360. If that doesn't work you can try cleaning the lends. Here's some information from eHow in regards to cleaning the lens. I like recommending eHow because it provides simple, easy to follow, step-by-step instructions for situations which may seem difficult:

Xbox 360 will only read halo !!

That is an odd problem. It sounds like you maay need to change the laser or the dvd rom assembly if its reading only one game, yet all the games it wont read are working ok in another console. If i was you id simply replace the DVD rom drive, making sure its the same version as the original from the unit. I hope this helps. Good luck.

The unit can't read the game on cd...I think there is a problem with the cd reader

What you need to do is test every type of disc, to ensure you know what it is reading and isnt reading. A dis assemble guide is available anywhere on the net, but to clean the laser, gently use a cotten tip/cue tip/cotten bud and wipe the laser. if it still isnt reading you may need to replace the dvd rom drive, but if doing so u need to make sure u get the correct version as each dvd rom drive version is specific to the mother board inside the 360. the easiest way to ensure you are getting the correct version make sure the markings and holes in the dvd tray(that slides out and you put the game in) is the same as the one you are replacing it with. Good luck.

Won't read any disks. DVD's, Games, or Music

If the system boots up and goes to the dash board but when you put a game or dvd in does nothing or says it can't read the cd. The problem is the CD Rom is dead. You can try cd rom cleaner cds found at Walmart. It could also be a dirty lens.

Hope this helps

I need help xbox 360 black screen

OK, I think I can slove your problem.

There is a slide setting thing on your av cord that gives you the option of using TV or HDTV (look near the end of the cord that slides into the XBOX 360), You will see two choices for settings on the cord "TV" or "HDTV".
Just make sure that you have it on the correct setting. I had the smae problem. My XBOX 360 is not hooked up to HDTV, so for me it should stay on TV. But somehow when I took out the cord I accidently slide it to HDTV.

I simply slide it back to the "TV" Setting and in about 30 seconds it worked perfectly.

I hope this helps you.
