The so-called "blue screen of death" can be caused by a number of problems. Would it possible for you to state the exact wording of th message that is showing up on the screen? (EXACTLY as it is written on the screen)

The reason I asked for the exact wording on the blue screen is because I have cleaned several computers over the last few months that were infected with a virus which activated the screen saver which had been set to 0 wait time and popped up every time the computer booted. The wording on the screen is a clue as to whether you might be having the same problem.

If you can get to the desktop properties, try deactivating the screen saver and see what happens.

How do i bring my pc back to factory default ?

Turn on the computer.
When the initial blue HP screen appears Press the "F10" key.
A Recovery menu will appear.
Click on "NEXT"
and then click on "YES"
Your system will now go through the product recovery

hope this helps

or

While restarting the computer keep tapping on the F10 key
on the next screen you will find start system recovery , and on the next screen you will find advanced options
in advanced option you will find an option for Destructive Recovery.. click that

If you are not able to run the recovery on the computer as above then you will need no use a set of recovery cds..... if you dont have them you can get it from HP..

I have an HP M8100n and everytime i plug a usb device in I get the blue screen of death. The computer is just iver 3 years old and not used much. What could this be?

hi,

most of blue color screens are really screen of death. most of the times it is some hardware failure that needs to be fixed by replacing the failure part. hardware failure may also occur due to heating up of parts. most of times it is RAM that heated up. restarting the pc after a small rest will resolve the issue. you may also pull out the RAM and reinstall it properly and see if problem resolved. if nothing of this work then this would definitely be a major damage to hardware and this has only solution to replace the part.

My Hp Pavilion All in One Ms214 states operating system not found. Enter the bios and it isn't recognizing my hard drive. It states 0mb. It is a western digital caviar blue 320 gig.

Remove the hard drive from the laptop, and re-seat the hardware back in place. Turn the computer on and see if the hard drive will come to life, if this fails the hardware will need to be replaced.

Yes you put in the video card and the default is lowest resolution and is usable without a driver, install driver then reboot and you have your new video card to set up the way you want.

Clean the CPU cooler and everithing else from the dust!

Turn off, open the case, use air spray to clean.
(I use vacom cleaner and a small brush, but you risk your component if you do the same! I'm professional.)
