Question about Motorola Mobility V551
After a call, the screen on my V551 Motorola cell phone locked up. I turned it off, and then back on and now the clock display is blank as well as the screen. It was not dropped or smashed and always in my possesion, meaning no misuse. I tried taking the battery out momentarily, and powered it back up with no change in displays. The back lighting on the number pad stil works, but that is it. Little help?
Two possibilities: 1. Broken ribbon cable as already mentioned by others. There are instructions on how to replace this cable elsewhere on the web, but the phone will have to come completely apart. 2. Bad electrical contact on hinge. Display will be intermittent and menu will go back to home when you are trying to press buttons. In this case, spray the hinge with electrical contact cleaner or WD-40. (Be careful to not get any on the plastic screen cover.) Open and closed several times to dislodge any corrosion/dirt.

This just happened to my phone too. I was in the middle of making a call, and the screen just went blank. The keys and everything still work, but neither screen shows anything. If there is anyone out there who knows why this happened and how to fix it, it would be much appreciated.

It looks like I have the same problem with my phone. I guess connection with the screen got broken in the hinge...Guys in Cingular store said that they can't fix it. I decided to buy a new phone, but now trying to figure out how to get the address book. I just posted my concern, and will hope someone will give me a suggestion. You might pay attention to it.
