We tried to clean the optics but that did not work. How expensive is it to replace the optics?

The "no disc" messing indicates that the disc is not readable. This can be due to a dirty lens on the optics or defective optics. If you can gain access to the CD section, try cleaning off the lens of the optics assembly using a cotton swab and alcohol. Let me know if that does not resolve the problem.

The optical pickup is available from tritronicsinc.com for $65.79 usig part number: optima-150s.

Unless you have changed these before, I would not suggest you start. Expect a labor charge in the $75 range for pickup replacement.

try buying optical clean for the cd play run it few time before you do any thing else, make sure you buy one that has media disc cleaning fluid. put few drop of liquid on each pad push play, fast forward, stop reverse forward, stop few times, let it run until it stops. you mite find it at walmart but you may have to go dvd or record store, radio shack may also have it

thank you rod

Go Video DVR 5000 Says No Disc

Hi what you could try first is buying a cd lense cleaner then run this then this should remove any dust as this can cause the problem your having.
If the discs played fine before then the chances are the lense needs cleaning failing that you will probably find that the laser has stopped working but try cleaning first let me know how you get on ok

DVD shows ''UNKNOWN DISC'' and came out

This is due to you trying to use the wrong type of DVD. refer to the manual for your system to see what ypes of disc it will accept. There are also many cheap DVD disks on the market that will not operate in vertain DVD systems. These are mainly cheap disks that have been made to a low quality standard. Also there are many systems that do not like certain manufacturers disks, typically Ricoh and others.
