Question about HP USB Web Camera

1 Answer

HP Webcam 1.3mp built into HP Pavilion dv2025nr won't function

Has never functioned properly. Using Windows XP Pro. Recently uninstalled hp webcam program from computer and reinstalled it from the HP website (sp35414). It works ok when I open it alone in Windows, but it won't work with any applications. I've used both Firefox and Explorer to try opening it in such programs as Yahoo Msgr, WLiveMsgr, and Skype. It seems to function momentarily, then it appears to freeze. When I try to reactivate it, a message in each case says that it can't be found on my computer. All the while, the blue light of the webcam is lit. The only way I can get the light to go out is to turn the computer off (hitting the "restart" button icon won't deactivate the light--I must stop the computer completely). I'm getting ready to built-in webcam and buy a separate one. Franlin Salveson

Where can I find the drivers for the HP truevision Web cam in my HP Pavilion dv7-4117ez

To use the webcam you need the HP MediaSmart Webcam Software installed.
If it is not functioning well anymore, re-install it. In most cases the installed HP
software packages are saved in the C:\SWSETUP folder on your harddisk.

Check the version of the installed HP MediaSmart Webcam Software, and if you
need it you can find v3.0 here:

Hp Pro webcam will not work.

Follow the instructions below and it will work.

Disconnect the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded software program.

When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.

Then to use it on the Web, do this.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the
camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

When you don't have the drivers-cd:
- Download the XP-drivers of your webcam (and unpack them if they are zipped).

Else start with these steps
1. Uninstall whatever webcam driver you have previously attempted to install.
2. From the device manager, scan for new hardware, and your webcam will be recognized and will continue to search for a driver.
3. If asked for for further search.. choose the place where it must search (cd or your downloaded driver-map)
4. Just allow the prompts to continue with the installation.
5. When the driver is successfully installed, you can test it right away.

Goodluck.

HP webcam dv6000 is not working properly

Weird but worked for me for yahoo and messenger but not quickplay. If you have the Chicony web camera, follow these steps to download Acer webcam drivers.

1. Download Acer 5210 Chicony Webcam drivers.

2. Run the setup file.

3. Follow installer prompts then RESTART PC.

4. Ignore the 'installing drivers' popup.

5. Open up the Control Panel.

6. Open up the Device Manager.

7. Select webcam from 'Imaging Devices'.

8. Right click on webcam and select 'Update'.

9. Select 'Browse computer for driver'.

10. Choose 'Let me pick from list of devices on PC'.

11. Uncheck 'Show compatible hardware' checkbox.

12. Scroll down to Chicony manufacturer.

13. Choose the 'Acer Crystal Eye Webcam'.

14. Install even if a question pops up.

YOU ARE DONE AND ENJOY YOUR CHATTING WITH ACER CYRSTAL EYE WEBCAM.

Thanks to DylanBennett for uncovering this odd fix for the HP webcam
