Question about Zenith C27A24T 27" TV

2 Answers

I am getting double images while watching TV;

When watching I get double images...then it will be fine for a couple of minutes...then it goes back to the double images. This first started a couple of weeks ago and the double images only occurred when I turned it on. After about 5 minutes it would be fine.

It has now started shutting off. It stays on for about 5 minutes then shuts itself off.

Unpug tv remove rear panel inside will be a large circuit board with a connector on either side which control the left and right of tv, carefully unclip the left side clip, place a small strip of clear celotape (10x20mm) to the left side of left connector, plug in and recheck, some tweaking may be required. Repeat on rhs if required

Screen goes blank while watching

Couple of things:

1) When the picture "stops", does the standby light blink at all?
2) Can you post the model number please?

Some of these sets are known to have problems with the picture tube as it starts to age. There are some workarounds for this that can extend the life of the set for a short time. Without the model number though, I can't confirm that this set is in that catagory. Please supply responses to the issues above and we'll continue from there.

Thanks,
Dan

Sony Trinitron KV-32S40 32" TV problem

This is a simple and common problem. The solder joints on the vertical output IC have cracked loose. I actually did a housecall on the exact same set with the exact same symptoms this morning! A good tech will resolder the pins of the vertical output IC and all other major solder joints on the main board and the set will play fine.

Isolate filament voltage from CRT,i.e. unplug Crt socket from pix tube.Measure filament voltage on CRT PCB.If present,suspect bad pix tube.If missing,solder any/all connects in filament circuit,meaning CRT board first then main PCB.

Hello Robert, the picture tube on your TV set is exausted. Please contact your nearest Authorized Sony Service for further help/advice. After all, Sony is a good choice. The next TV set you buy could be one of Sony-s Bravia LCD. Kind regards, Arpad
