Question about Dishwashers
While the dishwasher was running I heard a popping sound. The dishwasher tripped the outlet closest to it (for garbage disposal also) AS WELL as the main fuse. Checked inside and everything looked okay. Hadn't finished it's cycle.
When the main fuse was reset the dishwasher door was OPEN and I heard the POP again as well as saw a spark(?) of light come out of the bottom. It's 8:30pm - what should I do? Turn off the main again (it didn't trip of the 2nd time - just the outlet). Take of the bottom panel to make sure nothings smoldering under there? I called Factory Service - they said to disconnect - what I'm an electrician now!! LOL
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Turn off the power source to the garbage disposal. Take the drain hose from the dishwasher off the connector going to the disposal (if connected). Insert a flat blade screwdriver in the drain hose fitting and tap a few times with a hammer. The plastic plug will pop off inside the garbage disposal. Reach inside from the top of the disposal to retrieve the plastic plug. Sometimes you have to use a little force to tap the plug out. Hope this helps you.

There should be an overload button somewhere on the bottom of the disposal motor. This is to prevent the motor from trying to run if the chopping blades are jammed, otherwise the motor would burn up.
First, try to move the blades with something like a broom handle. Using a flashlight you should be able to see the blades. there's probably three of them. try to make sure each one can move even a little bit.
Next, with the disposal switch in the off position, find the overload button and push it in, Then turn on the disposal switch and see if it runs. If the overload button trips off again, repeat the above steps until the blades can turn.
Let me know how this goes. Loringh

its quite common for the interferance filter to fail on these models its situated in the base of the dishwasher connected to the mains block usually when they fail you can see black dust around it,

I had the same problem with a Hobart AM8 passthru dishwasher. The electrician determined that some of the wires had become exposed and were wet, thus shorting things out and tripping the breaker.
