Question about Panasonic SDR-H18 USB Hard Drive

1 Answer

I have Panasonic SDR-H18 camcorder. I have a HP Pavilian dv9000 laptop. I was able to transfer files to my computer as couple of months ago but I can't transfer anything now. About three weeks ago my laptop was infected by Rapid antivirus and spyware. The tech was able to savemy files but some of the program info was lost. I think that might be my problem in trying to download and transfer my camcorder files. I can't find the installation CD for my SDR-H18. How can I get my problem squared away. I have some files on the SD card of my SDR camcorder that I need ASAP to produce a DVD in the next week. Jay

Hi again,

For some reason, the chat session disconnected. Musthave been a glitch, delay/lag or plain disconnect. Our apologies forany inconvenience.

I have to agree that most probably theinterface/driver/software foor your computer to recognize and accessthe video from the Panasonic SDR-H18 camcorder was lost and thereforenneded to be re-installed again.

Pls start here. Download, install and run.

Justa start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additionalinformation. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Incidentally, you can still access the contents of the SD card using a memory card reader either built-in to the computer or an external USB.

I have a panasonic sdr h85 i cant download my videos to my computer i do not have a software disk could that be the problem if so how could i get a software

-Are you using a memory card? Check "my computer" for removable drive and look for folder(s)
-Are you direct connecting via usb connection?

May need to wait for driver(s) to load to enable viewing.
What windows are you using?

Try this page:

Click on "Regular Download"
It's a .rar file so you'll need winrar to decompress it. Send me a personal message if you need help.

My video camera (SDR-H18) wont charge...the battery lights up when charging but when i put it in the camera the camera wont turn on...whats the problem?

It sounds like a bad battery. If you have another battery, or a direct power plug for the camera, try those to determine if the camera itself functions. If so, you can safely assume the battery is the problem. If the power plug works but not a different battery, you may have dirty or corroded contacts where the battery attaches to the camera. If changing the battery works, the old one should be returned if under warranty, recycled if not, or you could leave it on the charger for several hours to see if it can complete a charge at all. If not, get a new battery.

I have a Panasonic SDR H18 video camera. My kids were trying to download some video to our computer but needed to power it. They didn't know what to use and ended up using a computer powercord which has an...

you may be able to recover what is on the hard drive, the power supply voltage regulator or some other component is likely to have burned out. If the unit smells strongly like something has gotten hot, chances are this is the case. If its worth it to you take it to a copmputer/camcorder repair center and they may be able to actaully get the camcorder going again. That being said, if all you want is to recover the video from the hard drive take it to a computer repair facilty and tell them that, most likely they will be able to do it.

The tech guy said that the main board needs to be replaced. But the cost of changing would buy me another camera. Is there any way to repair the same one?

Yes, but it will probably cost more than to buy another camera.

You probably can remove the disk-drive, and connect it to your computer, to "rescue" any movies currently on the camera.

Or, if you purchase an identical camera, you can temporarily "transplant" the old disk-drive from the old camera into the new camera, and then upload any movies to your computer. Then, re-insert the new disk-drive into the new camera.

Lacking AC adaptor

Just recently i had the same problem just with my guitar pedal. My adapter broke and i had to make another plan.

So i was left with 2 options, either stop playing guitar or buy a new adapter, which is expensive. I then found a multiadaper. With this you can choose between AC or DC, and you have different options to which voltage you need to use. Best of all, it is not expensive at all and you an basically use it for everything which needs an adapter. You can buy this at any electronic shop

Really hope that this can help you
