Hello. You answered the question about this code and suggested that the card reader is faulty and /or the connection between pcb and reader is faulty. Your statement ' canon does not make readers anymore' is clear but you did not suggest any way forward to keep using this copier. Does this mean the copier is no longer usable and we need to throw it away or we need to disable a function somehwere to move on? please help by elaborating how we can continue from this challenge.

A fault is detected by the main controller PCB in the communication between reader controller PCB and the main controller PCB
The connector has poor connection. The reader controller PCB is faulty.
1. Connector, Reader controller PCB Is the connection between the connector J1014 on the main controller PCB and the connector J409 on the reader controller PCB normal? NO: Correct the connection. YES: Replace the reader controller PCB.

There's no code like that in my manual.It's220-001 means lamp inverter PCB faulty,or reader controller PCB faulty. There's also a E 225-000 error which mean scanning lamp(xenon tube) is faulty,or inverter or CCD
Errors commencing with E3---- means that something to do with the reader unit,,,, apart that error mentioned does not exist. If youhave plenty of parts that you can try out I will try to replace the reader board....
Did you recently clear RCON and tried to due a CCD adjust? The problem could be the that the left side glass retainer changed or mared or has a doc feeder been added or removed. There is a bar code on the under side of it. The part number for the 1000/3100 is FF5-4662-020, the 2400 FF5-8802-000
