Question about Mozilla Firefox

Move location of mcafee site advisor toolbar

I have McAfee with SiteAdvisor and am using Mozilla Firefox. I have this combination on two different computers. On one, I was able to switch the SiteAdvisor button to the status bar on the bottom of the screen in Firefox. On the other computer, I can't figure out how I did that and the button is currently in its own toolbar under the bookmarks toolbar. Both are running the same versions of McAfee and Firefox. What setting do I have to switch to get SiteAdvisor to appear in the status bar?

McAfee SiteAdviser appears on a second line under the bookmarks toolbar. It used to appear on the bottom status bar on my old pc. How can I get it back down there without taking premium real estate on the top of the page?

The location is driving me crazy in that the Site Advisor is cutting into the visible space on my Acer Aspire One. I'm thinking of uninstalling it and loading WOT instead.

Ok if you were like me and updated your mcafee security and it updated your siteadvisor it moved it from by your status bar to your toolbar. I uninstalled mcafee internet security, then reinstalled it using the custom setting. After you do that do not install siteadvisor. Once all that is done install mcafee siteadvisor for firefox on its own and this should solve the problem it worked for me.

Usually happens when one installs a program, application, etc.

You're in the middle of installing, and they want to sneak an anti-virus program in, ( trial offer), or Google toolbar, or Ask.com toolbar, or whatever the 'new flavor of the month is'.

A) Add/Remove Programs:
1) Click on Start (Or Windows logo button), then on Control Panel.
2) Click on Add/Remove Programs.

3) Look down the list, when Add/Remove Programs is fully loaded.
See any toolbar names there?

Probably will not state toolbar with the name, but if you see Ask, Google, etc; that does not look like a program you installed; click on Remove.
(DO NOT remove any Windows programs)

B) Reinstall your internet browser
Have Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc?

Download again, and reinstall.
WATCH that you just save your bookmarks, and do not save the toolbars again.

[It will ask if you wish to save your Bookmarks/Favorites, etc.
Yes to that. No to anything else ]

joecoolvette

[ I had the Ask.com toolbar, slip in on me the other day! Sheesh!
Deleted that baby fast!
I use Mozilla Firefox. Don't need no cr@p.

When you are installing, look through each small screen.
If you see an advertisement; Ask.com toolbar, Google toolbar, McAfee, etc;
there will be a small square to the left of it, and a Green checkmark in the box.

There also may be two boxes.
Go to the small box on top with the first listing, left-click on the box.
This removes the green checkmark from that box.
Also from the small box below it.

Now click on Next

KEEP a sharp eye on every small window. May have to uncheck a box on a few windows. You can back up to the beginning, and look again. Be SURE before you click on Install.
Usually starts out with McAfee. {Yuck! ]

You may have McAfee site advisor installed.

This issue has been determined to be caused by a compatibility problem with Windows Live Messenger 2009 and the McAfee Site Advisor. McAfee is working on a patch to address this issue, but until it becomes available, you may try the posted workaround on their website at:

MSN Camera Problems

If you have both McAfee SiteAdvisor and Windows Live Messenger 2009 installed, please take the following actions until a patch is out from McAfee because there are some incompatibility problems.

The workaround is pretty simple. All you need to do is to disable McAfee SiteAdvisor from monitoring msnmgr.exe but there is no option to do that. You’ll have to manually go to C:\Program Files\McAfee\SiteAdvisor\ and look for the file sasets.ini. Open the sasets.ini with notepad or your favorite text editor, locate the section titled [msnmsgr.exe] and change the value to 0 (1 means enable and 0 means disable).

Save the file and close it. You can either restart your computer for changes to take effect OR simply terminate and reopen Windows Live Messenger 2009. Yeah it’s frustrating that Windows Live Messenger 2009 has so many bugs and incompatibilities but no worries, I’ll slowly help you all to look for solutions and workarounds to make it work rather than downgrading back to MSN 8.5. According to Wikipedia, Windows Live Messenger is no longer beta and the latest version is Build 14.0.8064.206 released on 12 February 2009. You can head on to Live Messenger to download the latest Live installer (wlsetup-custom.exe) which can automatically update your Messenger if it detected there’s an update.
