Question about Whirlpool Ovens

Bake will not heat up to where it should

Hi, my oven is approximatley 5 years old. When I turn the bake on it will not heat up to where it should. It will not cook anything from the bottom. The broil still works as well as the stove top, just not cooking from the bottom. I have replaced the bottom element with a new one and still not bottom heat. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance

My husband had went through everything with a multi metre and it all seems to be producing conductivity, but I will take the element out and have it checked. Thank you for your time and suggestions. If you have any others I would love to hear them. I will let you know what I find out. Thanks again. :)

I had the element checked and it seems to be fine. Is there any way to check if the t-stat is working before I buy a new one? Again, thanks in advance for any help or suggestions you may have! :)

If the oven is getting warm but not as hot as it should your thermostat is bad. They are a small pain to replace but can be done if you don't mind removing the front panel and removing 2 small screws. It would be best to get your model number and remove the thermostat to get exactly the same one. Let me know how it turns out. Ken

After thinking more about this problem t-stat might not be the problem the heating element would be my first thing to eliminate if you have a volt ohm meter ohm the element to determine that it is bad. If not sure take it out and go to parts house and they can check it for you.

Dacro Wall oven (electric) does not heat past 345 degrees on bake or convection bake but broiler works and bottom oven works fine (for bake, convection bake and broil).

it could be the oven temp sensor rod located near the top of the inside of the oven,or possibly the bake element has a hot spot on the element and can no longer pass enough current thru this spot to correctly heat to your settings a hot spot on the element will look discolored in this area

Have just moved from UK and we don't have broil and bake on our ovens - what do they mean/what's the difference as I've been cooking garlic bread on bake but it's taking twice as long to cook?

Hi,
The broil is the top element and the bake is the bottom element...so with broil you are heating from the top and with bake you are heating from the bottom...if your oven has a fan, turn that on with a bake setting and it will speed up the process..

Thermador double oven / Bake wont work /FC code flashed once

I found I have this exact problem. Same bake preheat issue: I can bake if I set broil first. However, the oven doesn't work if I press bake first. The control board has already been replaced a couple times over the years. Is this another replacement??

benypeny what that flash was from what I have seen over the years is your heating element on the back wall burning out. Remove the cover and you will see the element is no longer in 1 piece.

OLD GE Wall Oven doesn't heat properly

On these older ovens ther is usually always 120 volts on the elements at all times.
If you check across the element ends with it in bake you should read 240V. If not, there is a problem with the control. With the voltage drop you describe, it sounds like you are losing power on one line of voltage coming to the element.
Post back to let me know what you find out or if you have any questions.
