D-Link DES-1008A Some ports are not connected, how the solution???
Last year, I bought pdoduk d-link des-1008a. I use the product for one year, and without any problems. around the month of April 2012, I bought the same product again. but apparently the price of d-link des-1008a, a new output less than a year earlier output. highly regrettable but in low prices, quality is so cheap. when I use the d-link des-1008a new output, of which there are 8 ports, only some of which connect. I've tried many times had the same results. I finally decided to replace it with a long pdouk. and the results are normal, I tried again a new one, but the result remains the same, problematic. I finally exchange product, but the results remain bermaslah. until today (16 June 2012) was my 3x exchange the product, but still problematic. What should I do?, whether the product d-link des-1008a latest release of a product to fail?. I am very disappointed with the d-link des-1008a. hope its support.
This is a simple network switch and it doesn't require any drivers. You just connect all the computers & other network devices to it using twisted pair LAN cables and that's it.

The DES 1008D is an unmanaged switch. therefore there is nothing to set up. Just plug it in and connect to your computer via a cat 5 cable. Here are the manuals Link DES 1008D
I assume you have a broadband connection which you are directly to your computer.
In that case please connect the broadband ethernet cable to one of your switch port. Get a new CAT5 or CAT6 ethernet straight cable and connect one end to any free port of the DES-1008D 8-Port Ethernet Switch and other end to your Computer.
No configuration needed to be done on DES-1008D 8-Port Ethernet Switch
You haven't supplied any detail on exactly what "not working" means. If you get lights when you plug something in but nothing can connect, it may have features such as Vlan enabled. Can you get to the administration console to reset to factory defaults? Otherwise google to find the user manual and perform a factory reset. Here is one link I found:
MDI uplink port for easy expansion Expansion is easy through a MDI uplink port.
You cascade several switches together through this port to get more ports.
Auto-learning of network configuration
Flow control in full duplex mode for protection against data loss
connect only DGS -1024D to your network....it will be faster...
because DGS supports 10/100/1000 speed....
but DES supports only 10/100 speed...
connect DGS directly to your network and work with that...
if you wish to extend the number of ports then connect the DES to one of the ports of DGS
After conducting extensive research, I have concluded that there is no ID and/or password to reset. According to my research, this is an "unmanaged" switch. It's plug-and-play all the way.
