It would be helpful if you could give more information about your wireless router. Although it is quite easy to setup we need to know the vendor or your router.

Some basic questions when you boot your notebook does it see a wireless connection?

What kind of notebook is it?

Are you using Windows XP, Vista? Is windows managing the wireless adapter or another third party software such is in the case of some Dell, IBM notebooks

Find pass key for our lap top for the family network.

Log into your router's web interface, if possible through a computer connected to the router by cable, by starting an internet browser and navigatng to its maintenance IP address, usually set by many manufacturers to 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. An authentication request will come up. As you haven't speciffied your router model, there are routers whose both user name and password fields are set to 'admin'. Other routers use 'admin' as user name only, requiring the password field to be left empty. Once you get into the router's web interface, go to the wireless settings, and change the wireless passphrase to a new one of your choice. Make sure to change the other devices, which use to connect to the router, to the same new passphrase.
If you need further details, please, provide your router model and manufacturer.
Hope you are able to sort your problems out.
Regards, Carlos

How to get the internet on my lap top from my desk computer

You do not get the internet that way, The laptop wants it's own connection.n teh easiest way is to use a router, this also is a really effective, passive firewall.

So, the set up goes like this:
Modem connected to router, and the router is connected to the desktop and the laptop.

IF your router is wireless, change two things, one bump up to a higher channel, or risk interferance from cordless phones, and two TURN ON password access for wireless acccess, or you share your bacdwidth with everyone.

Can't get internet connection to my lap top.ps i have a desk top.

Is your laptop wireless adapter correctly configured? It may be set to only recieve certain types of signals (802.11b, when you may beed 802.11g etc), so check if the configuration of the laptop matches the configuration of the router.

To test if the laptop can get internet at all, try to get to a wired internet line (your wireless router may have some Ethernet ports on the back; laptops usually have Ethernet connectivity), just incase your laptop is set to block all internet signals coming in.

Hope this helps!

I am trying to set up a lap top to my router through a wireless card and it is asking for the key number, how do I find this number on my router?

You will need to access the configuration panel of the router. You can do this via a web browser like FIrefox or IE, in a computer that is connected to the router (preferably by Ethernet cable) The router's address is usually http://192.168.1.1, but it will depend on the brand or make. CHeck the manual or the bottom of your router for this information.

Hi i have a problem conecting my lap top ho nx5000 to wirless mode can you help me

If your running WinXP you should see an icon on the bottom right near the clock with a wireless icon. Double click on it, should now open up a windows showing a list of available wireless networks to connect to.

If you have your own Wireless router in your place find the name of that ID whatever you had set it to. If you bought a Linksys router it would say by default Linksys. If it ask for a passkey enter the passkey you had setup on the router.

Now if you can see any wireless networks or you do but can't connect see if your laptop has a on/off switch for your wireless card. If so switch it on and bam wireless freedom you have.

Need help getting wireless netgear to work with lap top. Lap top was reconfigured and don't have old password.

If you don't have the wireless password for your wireless connection. The thing to do is log into the Router's webpage via the Router's IP address. From there you can go to the wireless section and in most routers this section shows the wireless password.

If you have trouble getting on to the Router's webpage. Just comment back on this and I can probably step you through it.
