Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
I have a brand new Samsung 46" full HD TV. Brand new PS3. It worked fine for a few days, but now there are white and green lines flickering across the screen nearly every time I use the PS3. The disturbances seem to be getting worse, but they do not appear every time I use the PS3. Haven't yet seen this effect when playing a DVD (haven't got any Blu-Rays, so I haven't tried that).
The flickering/the lines are there regardless of the screen resolution. I use an HDMI cable. Not a particularly expensive one, so I tried to switch it with the HDMI cable that connects my PVR decoder to the TV. Switching the cable did not help. And the picture is fine when I watch TV using that cable, so I guess that problems with the cable are excluded. Or are they? (I guess that the PVR HDMI cable is relatively cheap as well, but since it works fine when watching TV I doubt that the cable is the problem)
Tried to switch the input from one of the HDMI slots to another. No effect. Removed every other power supply (decoders, other consoles, etc) so as to minimize electronic disturbances. No effect.
Any suggestions? Is it a problem with the TV, or the PS3?
Well, you could try it and if thats not it, take it back and be like " yeah, this was the wrong one " Walmart takes just about anything back.
If it does it after about 20 minutes then it seems its related to heating issues. Is your PS3 one of the first Generation models.
I would take it out of the invironment to some one elses place and try hooking it up using there T.V. ( if you can) and see.
It sounds to me like its a bad connector on the PS3. I would say send it in for warranty, call Sony and explain the issue and if you get someon ecool like I did with my PS2, they gave me a special Code so all repairs where free and the return shipping.
Got it back in 3 weeks.

Sounds like the PS3 is getting interference. is there anything else close to it like a Fan thats on or do you leave a cell phone next to it, Have large speakers near it or a computer thats on while your playing?
Sometimes poor shilding on an electronic device can cause interference on something else. Check the area and see.
Is there a wirless router or adapter near it. Try removing thes items one by one and see if one of them is the culprit.
A Cheap HDMI cable may not be shielded well againt EMP pulses
