Question about Magellan Roadmate 760 GPS Receiver
My GPS has lost the voice instruction, I have tried the volume up and down, the volume test and nothing happens. Do I need to send the unit for repair? if yes, where? Than you for your help.
I'm guessing the touch screen is working fine regardless of the sound? What you'll need is contact cleaner and a thin cleaning rag. Disassemble the unit, being very careful when you first open it up to UNPLUG the RF cable that could break off if pulled too hard. So, once you get the 4 screws off, open the unit just a little bit.. reach in and unplug the RF cable. It will help your percentages of success if you were grounded somehow in this process. Take the HDD off the back of the mainboard (big board). Isolated from the rest of the unit, spray the contact cleaner directly into the volume knob.. then while still wet, use the cloth like floss and clean underneath the dial, all the way around the unit. Make sure you clean it thoroughly, so you don't have to assemble and reassemble it incase of failure. Put it all back together.. making sure ALL the cables are back in their original place.. and that should fixya. -Daniel

You can use the PREFERENCES menu option to change the volume of the voice instructions. Use 'Volume preferences' , with its sliding scale to set the required volume in increments of 5%.
The 'Test' function is a good way to get the volume right before starting your journey. You may also find it helpful to use 'Link volume to car speed', so that the voice instructions get louder as road noise increases and are at their quietest when you are stationary.
