When you reboot your computer, you should see a message in the lower left corner for a second or two that says something like "press esc for start menu." Press that button before the message disappears and a start menu should appear and one of the choices should be "boot options" or "boot order" select that and select the cd as the boot drive.

Windows sleep mode problems

Sleep mode on a Windows 7 PC saves power without you having to turn your computer off and without losing any work. This option cuts the power to your monitor, powers down the hard drive and pauses all functions until you awaken the computer from hibernation. Whether you have a laptop, desktop or workstation, putting your computer into sleep mode will lower your electric bill and save money! Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of your desktop. In the lower right corner of the Start menu, next to the "Shut Down" button, is a button labeled with a small, right-pointing arrow. Mouse over the arrow. The Shut Down menu appears. Point at "Sleep" and click on this option. Your Windows 7 computer goes into sleep mode. Wake your computer from sleep mode by jiggling the mouse. There may be a delay of a few seconds before your hardware powers on. All of your open programs are still open and your work is intact, just as you left it before the computer entered sleep mode. Configure your Windows 7 PC to go into sleep mode automatically when it is not used for a certain amount of time. Click "Start" and select "Control Panel." Click "System and Security." Click "Power Options." A menu opens. Click on "Choose when the computer sleeps" and select the number of minutes of inactivity. You can also set a separate time interval to put your monitor into sleep mode. If you set both to 10 minutes, then your PC and monitor will automatically go into sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity

How do I reset the monitor to correct font size

Hello Lawrie,

You don't actually adjust fonts or resolution on the monitor, you do adjust them in the control panel of the computer. To do this, open your start menu, select Control panel. When the control panel is open check the top left corner to see if it is in Classic or Category view, if it says Category, click the switch to classic mode link. If you don't see this in the top left look at the top right and look for Category or Large Icon View, if Category is selected select Large Icon by clicking on Category and then clicking Large Icon View in the list that appears.

Once in the proper view, click on Display and depending which version of windows you have select Settings on the top of the properties window(XP or older) or adjust resolution from the left column(Vista/7), now find the slider bar for resolution and slide it higher if you want the font smaller or lower if you want the fonts larger. This will set the number of pixels on the screen.

The default and best resolution for this monitor is 1280x1024, if that makes the fonts too small try 1024x768 next and 800x600 last. If the resolution is set too low to see the Ok and Apply button simply set the slider bar then press the enter button the first time, then you will be able to see the Ok and Apply if you need to continue adjusting.

Hope this helps Fixya,

Chris

Reply back with your version of windows if you require more specific instructions or pictures of any of the steps.

Please help...I'm about ready to throw this camera out the window!

Have you tried installing the software? If you still have difficulty, try this:
1. Plug in the camera to the computer. Make sure it is detected by the computer.
2. Right click the START button at lower left of screen and select explore.
3. In the left pane, scroll down to "mass storage device" or something to that effect. You should find it after the CD drive letters.
4. Click on it and on the right pane, you should see some folders appear.
5. Select the folder that stores the pics and double click. (If you are unsure, double click each folder till you find the right one.
6. Once you find the pics, click on "Edit" (at the top of the screen) and click on SELECT ALL. Now place the cursor over any of the pics in the right pane and right click and select COPY.
7. Now all you have to do is make a new folder and paste them into that folder.

Hope that helps!

How to use buttons on front of Monitor for vertical Horizontal settings

Oldie, The first thing to do is set the monitor resolution, color depth and monitor refresh rate to what you want then adjust the monitor accordingly. Adjust resolution, color depth and refresh rate for Windows 2000/XP: -Right click any clear spot on your desktop and select properties from the menu that appears. -From the Display Properties box that appears click on the Settings tab. -In the screen resolution section (lower left corner) experiment with the resolutions and see what you like. -The color quality box should be set to the highest (most colors) color setting listed. -Click on the advanced button in the lower right corner. -In the next window click on the monitor tab. -Typically you would want to set it at 70 Hertz or better. The higher the setting the less flicker you will notice, however, there is always a trade off. I would start with 70 Hertz and gradually move up; at some point your monitor will reach a setting it can?t support. If the screen blanks out Windows will reset back to the previous settings as long as you don?t hit any keys. -click the OK button twice. More to follow?.

Monitor problem

Melanie, The computers video cards resolution and / or refresh rate is set incorrectly for your monitor. The easiest way to fix this is as follows for Windows 2000 or XP: -While the computer is first starting press the F8 key every second till the Advanced Options Menu appears. -Using the up or down arrow key select the ?Enable VGA Mode? and hit the enter key. -You will be taken to another screen that may or may not have several items to select from. Find your operating system, highlight it and hit the enter key. -Your computer should now load Windows using a generic display mode. Don?t be alarmed if the objects on the screen appear large, this is just temporary. -Log into Windows (if necessary) and you should now see your desktop. -Ignore the popup in the lower right hand part of your screen saying that the display is set very low. Simply right click any clear spot on your desktop and select properties from the menu that appears. -From the Display Properties box that appears click on the Settings tab. -In the screen resolution section (lower left corner) make sure it is set to 1280 x 1024. This is the typical resolution for a 17? LCD but be aware that your monitor will probably be capable of supporting other resolutions. -The color quality box should be set to the highest (most) color setting listed. -Click on the advanced button in the lower right corner. -In the next window click on the monitor tab. -The typical LCD is set to 60 Hertz; however, I have seen where some Acer monitors like 70 Hertz. I would start with 60 for now and change it to 70 if this doesn?t work. -click the OK button twice. -Restart your computer normally and see if it works. Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate this post.
