I have the same problem. I haven't taken it a part yet, but I believe the drive portion needs to be replaced as the motor seems to spin just fine. Said another way it doesn't seem to engage with the grinds. Should I consider buying an all new starter (~$132) or just the Drive portion (~$44)? Or are there other recommendations to diagnose this situation further. Thanks.

This problem has been solved! I took the covers off the machine, removed the starter and eventually replaced the drive. Apparently the drive parts were put on back ordered and took about 4 weeks to get the drive set. One thing I suggest if anyone does this is to look at the fly wheel to insure it's in good working order. The dealer I worked with said often that is chewed up (the teeth on the fly wheel) and leads to a bigger headache. Fortunately mine was just fine. The machine now works likes like new as I put in a new spark plug as well!

First disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug. Then use a socket wrench to remove the spark plug. Install the new spark plug into the cylinder head and reconnect the spark plug wire. The Toro CCR 3650 uses a NGK BPMR4A plug gapped to 0.032".

Hello, I have a Toro snowblower Model ccr 2450. The starter runs but does not engage to start the engine. Can you tell me how to fix this problem without taking it to a repair shop?

Remove the starter, then check the teeth, if the teeth
are ok, then the throwout Bering is bad, this is the part than pushes out the teeth so it contacts the
flywheel. The parts you need, teeth ,spring, throwout,
show as a kit, but you must buy them from a toro dealer, You need to have your serial #, because the parts are listed by different serial #'s. Now most times you would have to buy the whole starter, but it looks like you can get the kit. If the teeth are bad then the throwout is ok, but you still need the kit to fix your problem.
