Install Aftermarket Stereo in 1998 Mercury Sable

Hello all,
I need to find a way to install a newer stereo in my 1998 Mercury Sable. I currently have a radio with a tape player. With the new age, I would love to have a newer stereo and maybe even be able to plug in my iPod.

You need to buy a radio from Best Buy or somewhere. Installing on a Sable is not easy because your radio face plate is in the front but the tuner itself is located in the trunk and you need to run wires from the dash to the trunk. You need to buy a radio and $80 parts kit, but I promise it is not an easy install unless you are familiar with car audio and running wires through cars.

My g6 2007 does not have the original stereo harness. Where can I buy one to install it myself so i can add a aftermarket stereo?

I would call all of the salvage yards until you are able to locate one where they have your car. Best to start as close to home as possible because you are likely going to have to go and pull it off. The Dallas County Auto Salvage yard on MacArthur will pull it for you, all you got to do is pick it up. They may mail it. I am not for sure about the mail thing though.

How do remove the standard stereo from a VZ Commodore and install a double din size stereo?

go on to ebay and search vz stereo there will be listings with stereo removal tools for about $10 and if you are going to install a double din stereo you will also need to buy a kit (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190457652235&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1157wt_1020) that fits around the display so you can hold the stereo in place. this kit includes all you need including the antenna adapter and another wireing harness

Need to find a wiring harness

I would need further information: What most people do not realize is that a wiring harness is not a "one size fits all" thing. There are two harnesses that you may need.

To remove your factory car stereo and install a new aftermarket car stereo there are wiring harnesses for most cars that will plug right in to the wires from your old factory radio.
For that, you will need to buy the correct wiring harness for the year and make of your vehicle. Say, for example: 1987 Toyota.

Then there is a wiring harness for the specific car stereo. You will need the make and model number of the unit itself. Example: JVC model KD-AVX77.

Wiring for aftermarket stereo

If you have no idea what your doing leave it alone. Find someone at a stereo store who can do it for you at a reasonable cost. It should not be that much $25 to$30.
