Troubleshoot your Admiral Top Load Washer that has these following symptoms: Not Completing all Cycles ...
Sturdy little door, isn't it? Make sure you don't have extra water in the machine, as this will cause the door to not unlock. With that done, unplug your washer. If you can get the top of the machine off and reach down the front of the washer, you should see the latch mechanism. Push this down. Door should unlock. Now. Buy a new latch assemby.
1. Remove the lower panel under the door by loosening the three screws
under the bottom edge on the front of the washer. HINT: If you prop up
the front feet of the washer with some small blocks of wood, this will
make access to the screws much easier. 2. With the screws removed,
the lower panel should drop down then come off. If the panel sticks, a
light tap on either side will knock it loose. 3. Reach your hand up
inside the washer behind the front casing on the right-hand side. This
is where the door latch assembly is located. 4. At the bottom of the
door latch assembly is a small pull tab. This is the manual release for
the door. Pull the tab straight down and the door will come open.
these doors will not unlock for whatever reason. If there are no error
codes being generated, this could have just been a momentary glitch. If
you see "Fdl" or "Fdu" error codes, these are usually indications of a failed door latch assembly and will require replacement.
Hi, this is a failed door lock alert. the FdL code represents this malfunction in the door lock mechanism. the unit will not operate if the door lock cant engage the latch.
replace the door lock mechanism asap. this will fix the issue.
Here are the steps to unlocking the door manually if clothes are still in the machine. 1.Unplug machine 2.remove bottom panel 3.Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the botttom of the door latch assembly 4.Located on the bottom of the door latch assembly is a tear dropped shaped tab 5. Gently pull down on the tab about a 1/4 inch or until a click is heard. 6. You may now open the door.
This code means the door lock mechanism has failed or the central control unit has failed. Replace the door lock mech. first. This should fix the problem. (before replacing anything make sure there is no obstruction around the switch or in the switch.) After the machine has been unplugged it may fix itself. if not replace door lock mech.
A lot of these errors on these front loaders can be resolved by simply unplugging the washer for 30 minutes to reset the computer. You may also attempt to manipulate the door latch by using the manual release lever to see if you can get the latching mechanism to stay open. The following link explains how to do this:
This is normally used when the door is latched with the door shut, but it still may apply in your case. If you attempt any of these preliminary checks and the latch still does not work properly, I would recommend replacing it. The next link explains how:
Hopefully you will not require any replacement parts. But, if you do, a replacement latch can be found at searspartsdirect.com or repairclinic.com. Just type in your complete model number to perform a search for parts. I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you require additional assistance.
The problem you are experiencing is a defective door latch. This is an easy repair you can perform yourself if you wish to save a service call. The following link explains the error, how to unlock to door if jammed, and provides the steps necessary to replace:

PS If your washer is under a service plan or warranty do not attempt this repair or it will void any service agreement you have.
Just in case there is a pull string with a loop, all plastic under the latch, need to pull the toe panel off and reach up inside the right, unplugged of course until you feel the switch. a pull latch is below the switch incase this happens and hats off to all star/ a serial error or a faulty switch is most of what causes this to start.
